Finally used the 🧊Cool Box 🥶….. and …. it’s GREAT!!👍🏽

So since March 2026, I’ve been driving around in my new GX with a $600 feature of which I was having second thoughts…

The built in cool box…

Having not used it once, I’d come to think of it as one of those wasteful purchases.. like a Jacuzzi tub in a new house master bathroom,… (… used maybe twice… )

But today as I was running out the door at 2:30 in the morning to get into the GX to drive down to Los Angeles, I grabbed three lukewarm diet drink drinks: root beer, Coke, zero, and diet squirt..

As the day rolled on and the temperature started getting warm. I reached in for one of those drinks and realized man .. There’s nothing less satisfying than a warm diet soda.

So took a risk, and depressed that “gas burning,” cool box button..

I put it out of my mind, but 30 minutes later, just prior to reaching our destination, I reached in to the cool box, and lo and behold my hand contacted an ice cold beverage, as if I just pulled it out of an ice chest..

Well maybe not that cold …

But … at least I’m now satisfied that I made a decision that I enjoyed at least ONCE… sure $600 is a lot to pay for one ice cold diet soda.. but only 600 more until it starts making sense..

Does the cold box really impact mileage that much? We have not noticed but I drive it with a heavy foot and in Sport mode anyway.

Notice the condensation … it actually works fairly well …. It’s gone from a complete waste of money to … meh … make use of it and be happy..

This is one of the extras my wife thought was a waste of money. After using it several times she loves it just like I do.

You're thinking about the cost of a cold drink, but I had a couple of times where I had to get meds to my kid who's a 4 hour drive away and they need to be kept refrigerated. As far as I'm concerned, that coolbox paid for itself that first time I used it for that.

Did not even think about insulin and other meds that require refrigeration.. Great point

Shouldn’t create any (if anything using the AC it should reduce moisture) though I saw a little condensation when it got cold.
