Greetings All-
Scheduled to pick up a 2026 nori green Overtrail next week from Lexus of Tulsa. Never thought I’d choose a color named after dried Japanese seaweed.
Been reading the forum discovering the good, mediocre and bad about the GX550. I’ve owned a number of Toyota’s and like them a lot. Two 4Runners (Still own one) a Tacoma and a ‘78 FJ40 (still own) love the reliability and simplicity.
The new 550 is for my wife (or so I tell her). I am a bit overwhelmed with all of the tech that comes with it, and to be honest, I will probably disable most of the “nanny” features that I can, once I figure out what they are. If I could custom order a vehicle with the features I would like, it would be minimal- air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, heated seats & steering wheel.
I have read many posts on this forum pertaining to wait-lists, deposits and long waits for delivery. I contacted twelve dealerships who have a high allocation of the Overtrail model. All replied back within a day or two. For some reason, the Texas dealers would not sell “new” to out-of-staters, however they were more than willing to sell me a used ‘24 or ‘25 model. The Midwest dealers were more accommodating with short waits-lists of a couple months. Lexus of Tulsa was able to acquire an allocation of our second color choice within one week. Maybe I got lucky? I read one post here within the past few days where a forum member is looking at a six month wait and even laid down a deposit. Strange marketing strategy on Lexus’ part. The disparity in pricing is also a bit scattered. Some paying a premium, as much as 5-7k over MSRP, with mandatory port and dealer installed add-ons. Crazy. This is my first experience purchasing a high-demand, production-limited vehicle.
I look forward to reading more here and hope to contribute meaningfully to the 550 community. Thanks to all.
Scott
I’ll post pictures after delivery. Who doesn’t like pictures, right?
