I found this post by Butler Lexus in Macon, GA to be very helpful. Especially the bold options, No# 1 remote start option via key fob and No#5 turn of key fob, these both work on my new GX 550!

No.# 1 - remote start: I use this all the time now, it's quicker and easier than using the Lexus app remote start.
No.# 2 - roll all windows down: anyone have luck with this one? I'm not taking my truck into the dealer just to enable this option
No.# 3 - seat settings: my OT GX550 doesn't have the buttons to set my individual seat settings, but I'd like to pair these settings with my remote nevertheless - anyone have luck doing that?
No.# 4 - open all door locks - anyone have any luck doing this? I've enabled most of this feature in vehicle settings
No.# 5 - turn keyless fob off: this is a standard Toyota/Lexus method to turn your keyless remote off, which I use to hide the remote inside my truck when I go hiking or surfing. I have to use a hide-a-key copy of the hidden remote key to open the door afterwards, but that's easier than losing an $700 remote key

Referring to #5. Is there a way to turn the remote off?

When I go surfing I take the metal key out of the remote, set the remote on the center console, and lock the driver door with the key. To open, I use the key and quickly grab the remote and click unlock before the alarm gets loud.

I made the salesmen demonstrate this to me before I committed to buying.

Key fob battery save:

1. Hold lock button

2. Press & briefly hold unlock button twice

The lights should flash 4 times to confirm the key fob is "off"

To turn it back on, touch any key on the fob.

I did this with my spare fob so the battery doesn't drain.

When I go surfing I take the metal key out of the remote,
As I mentioned above, I use the same method as you do when I go surfing. I ordered a key blank from Amazon ($10) and made a copy of that emergency key (copy = $20) and hide that extra key under a wheel well. That way if it gets lost I didn't lose an expensive Lexus oem keyfob part ($600)

However, the 4Runner, and other Toyota models, have an optional keypad (only available from SE US Toyota dealers - go figure?) that can be installed to open doors. I had one of those keypads installed on my 2023 4Runner and it worked great! Over the recent Black Friday deals events I bought another from Sparks Parts and I'm having a buddy-automotive-electrical-engineer help me figure out the wiring for this keypad. He thinks it's doable. Once I get it installed, I can share the information, if interested

I take the key card and put it inside a ziplock then put inside my wetsuit

This is pretty random and I don't want to start a new thread for this so thought I'd ask here. The hole on the fob for the key ring is so damn small that the only ring I can fit in there is a thin flimsy one. I only have 4 keys and they constantly fall out of the ring. Anyone find a good solution?
