So I have had this GX for a week now

Couple questions, observations.

I have noticed that I don’t have the auto shut off feature. I know they are no longer required. I don’t know if they just programmed it away like I know is possible with my wife’s Mercedes or my pickup, or if it truly didn’t have that functionality anymore (it is a 2026). I can’t find a button anywhere to turn it off so I almost think it didn’t come with it.

Secondly, is there a trick to the kick sensor? I’m sure I have it turned on but it won’t open the hatch and the neighbors are looking at me funny.

Third, big brother keeps telling me it can’t see me when my hand is on top of the wheel, can I turn that functionality off? I don’t want that or the lane assist that keeps trying to keep me from changing lanes.

And lastly is there a better solution to this key fob glove thing? What a worthless bit of engineering. I will gladly just take it off, but I can’t find a key chain that this fob will go on. I can just use the key card thing but I worry about its longevity.

Thanks all
Cory

This is my complaint with the key fob, can’t press any of the buttons cuz this cover is all jacked up.

About the kick sensor. Try pressing left side of the hitch diaper with your knee. Works very reliably for me.

I bought this plastic/rubbery cover in late 2024 and it's still working fine but showing a little wear:

I recently bought another similar one but it's a shiny chrome blue color and I'm using that on my main fob and the black one is on the second fob now:

The blue one is actually really nice! They have other color options but I'm kinda partial to blue....

Regarding the driver monitoring, you can't turn off the Eye of Sauron that wants to see your eyeballs. You'll just learn to completely ignore it. You can, however, turn off the lane change assist or that pushes back and/or beeps if you want to casually drift over a lane without using your turn signal.

The real bummer with the assistance computers is the damn cross traffic beeping - you will learn to loathe this "feature". You can turn it off but you have to go through a few menus and you have to do it each time you start the vehicle. A total engineering fail. Someone has to come out with a way to permanently disable this junk.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

i dumped the fob a while ago and have been using my iPhone app as my key - much easier. If I go out on a trip camping I do carry a fob as a back-up.

The kick sensor sucks in my opinion. The magic wave of my foot was not happening and I looked like an old guy trying to be ‘Neo from the Matrix’ in the Costco Parking lot. More importantly though when washing the car it kept going off and driving me out of my mind.

The other issues you can fix some via the info screen, others via the Calista device and app and dig into the programming menus. I want to kill the loud seatbelt reminders since I always wear a seatbelt.

Welcome Cory - see this post which details how to turn on and off your kick sensor… search key fob on the forum and you will find some nice options.,

Speaking of annoyances. Is there any way to turn off the Proximity/Security alarm!? It goes off every 5 fucking seconds when Im washing the truck

I use a small rfid blocking key fob bag, mostly because I’m paranoid of car theft lol, but the desired side effect is that, when the fob is in, all the proximity sensors including hands free lift gate are off. So just roll in to the washing station. Lock the car. Hide the key in the bag, and get to washing :)
