GX550 lean ~20mm to passenger side (2 Viewers)

Sits low on the vehicle right side (driver’s side in Japan = US passenger side). Dealer measured about 2 cm / 20 mm with the tires off.

Dealer said it may be spring-related and that a wider manufacturer action is being considered, but the official word is Oct–Nov 2026. No early repair. Customer service just sends me back to the dealer. No written diagnosis that it is definitely a bad spring.

I cannot find a GX550 TSB for lean / ride height. Closest is GX460 L-SB-0015-21 (lean >20 mm → replace front LH coil).

20 mm is not obvious in daily driving. I only noticed it when parked on a flat surface and viewed from the rear.

Any GX550 TSB or campaign for lean / coils?
Does yours lean, and by how much?

I've always assumed it was related to the KDSS system when parked which straightens itself out while driving.

I have a 2024 OT+ and swapped the springs for the 2025+ OT's that are 1" taller; afterward, I found the US passenger side 1-1/4" low at the front and around 3/4" at the rear. The best solution the dealer and I could think of was to add a 1/2" (1.27 cm) or so of spacers to the top of the front and rear springs. With that done, I still find it leaning to varying amounts between 1/8" and 3/8" - which is hard to notice. It would be great if there were a less band-aid-like solution.

I have a noticeable lean as well... dealer said it was because of gas tank weight... then the lead service tech tells me every car manufactured leans to compensate for the pitch of roads(I tried my hardest to hold back both laughing and going off on him).... also that the lean is within spec.. seems to me or atleast my dealership that they have no idea why it does it and doesn't have an explanation lined up to satisfy me..yet..

Really curious to see if something comes of this as far as a TSB or something.. keep us posted what you hear!

I got the same excuses, too, but I made it clear I didn't care why it leaned; I wanted it fixed.

That said, there is a spec in the tech manual of 5/8" lean being normal.

My dealer ruled out EKDSS by disconnecting and finding the same lean.

This has always been a thing on Toyota/Lexus trucks from the factory for like 20+ years. I dont think I've ever heard the corporate reasoning but supposedly its to compensate for driver weight (left hand side) and it evens out when driving. But that doesnt take into account RHD countries with the same truck

My premium plus has a lean as well..so it's not KDSS related. my 2 Tacomas had the same lean

I was having what sounds like the same issue many of you are describing here.
So I ordered the DrKDSS BOTCK bracket and their replacement track bar.

At first I wasn’t sure it was helping much. But in fact it is. Very happy with it now.

Yes, the DrKDSS BOTCK did partially correct the lean on my lifted GX (using the stock track bar), but I still see a slight lean. Now that you mention it, I only really noticed the lean after I was lifted and after adding the BOTCK it is was mostly corrected.

Maybe the stock 1" lifts from the springs are putting the track bar off horizontal and creating the lean.

Hmm it appears mine may as well, by about the same amount. Will need to measure it when in my flat garage. It is totally stock suspension.

people with the leaning issues, can you check your track bars (it sits just in front of the spare tire) to see how horizontal or slanted it is?

After installing the 2 DrKDSS corrective parts, my new bar is essentially level, about 1/4” off..as measured in my garage.
However my garage floor where I park the GX has a slight slant to the right to accommodate snow and slush melt to a floor drain.
So I’m calling my new track bar basically perfect.

It sure handles better, tows better in the rear, goes through the round-abouts better.

2025 OT+ with the same lean.

I had a GX460 and 5th gen 4Runner (both with KDSS) and a similar lean but on the driver’s side (US). I was told both were “in spec”.

I haven’t asked about the OT yet but I’m guessing I’ll get the same answer
