Hate your HVAC system? This may help.

So is everyone here happy with the amount of flow? I have little issues with the temp other than having to set it way up or down from what I think it should be (due to outside temps like mentioned above).

But the air flow sucks, even with fan on high I barely feel anything out the side vent and center vent not much better, both vents very hard to aim at me. :-(

I was out tonight and cranked up the fan. All the vents blew really well.

Long post - if you love your HVAC as-is, just skip.

I continue to see posts about the HVAC system in the GX not working well. It's overly complicated, and doesn’t do what you wish it would do.

It can be made to work quite well and behave like you’d expect an auto climate control to work. How? Just turn off the complicated stuff and leave it in basic auto mode. Then its ‘set and forget’.

Here is how I use my 25 OT+ HVAC and it works great now.

SETUP

1. On the main climate screen choose CLIMATE (right above the fan control)

2. From that screen turn the Concierge off. Turn S-flow Off. I turned Eco mode and De-icer off too. Unnecessary.

3. Now, go to vehicle settings and choose Climate

Here you can set the A/C mode to always come on when in AUTO or not come on. Right now it’s cool in my area of the country and I like the windows down. So I leave OFF. When it’s hot in the summer, I’ll probably turn ON. All this does is decide the default for whether AC will always run with AUTO mode.

4. Turn OFF the auto seat and steering wheel heat/cool from the main screen.

View attachment 10206

Just use them as you need them. If you do want them in Auto mode keep tapping the icon for seat and wheel and it will rotate to AUTO. I just like to use them manually as I need them.

At this point the car runs in a normal AUTO mode. Set temp and it’ll direct the fan and vents as needed.

MANUAL OPERATIONS are readily available if you still need them.

5. You can always select the fan and vent direction from the main screen and it’ll turn off auto mode.

6. You can engage/disengage AC from the AUTO mode as well (and still stays in AUTO)

7. Finally, your max settings are just one click away from the shortcut screen.

Once set, my HVAC works as well as other AUTO climate systems I've had. 99% of the time I only need to set temp and the system does the rest without drama.

Good luck!
Does this impact the temperature of the system when remote start is used?

My S-Flow defaults to on. Have to manually turn it off each time and it's noticeable as the fan speed does increase when it's off.

No, remote starts it just like the start button. Climate setting are the same as at shut off.
Actually this is configurable in the app. If you swipe up (click the up arrow above the 'Start' button in the app) and click on the 'Climate' button you can set the temp, heat/cool the seats, heat the steering wheel, and turn on the defrosters when using the app to start the truck, irregardless of how they were set when you last shut the truck off.

Has any one noticed very little air flow from the rear vents on the OT + model? Mines a 2025. I cranked the fan speed with concierge and S flow off.

Mine still stays off permanently. I have no idea why mine stays off and it doesn't work for others. The only thing that I keep coming back to is that I have the AC in off mode for automatic start up. I manually turn it on once from the screen (and it stays on each time I start the car) but the setting is different.

S-flow defaults to 'On' but you can take it to the dealer and they can make the S-flow default to 'Off.' I had that done along with a few of the other dealer only configurations.
Thanks for the info. I’ll have them change mine next week when I get my first oil change along with the window down trick for the fob. Great thread!

We've already hit 116° F out here and my AC works just fine. I turned the climate concierge and s-flow stuff off a long time ago. My s-flow stays off. I just keep mine in auto mode and just roll the driver's side knob up & down if I'm hot or cold (with sync on). Occasionally I'll adjust the flow pattern to hit my feet, which takes it out of auto, but 99% of the time I'm just in auto and it's fine.

Thanks for your post. Have only had my OT+ for a couple of weeks but right away I noticed that the HVAC was lacking. Of course i already knew before I made the purchase based on posters on this forum, which I appreciate. After making the simple adjustments you suggested, it was like the flood gates opened! Thank you!
