So the Lexus service dept sent me a text saying they have a fix for the hood flutter and they ordered the parts.
Anyone know the official fix?
Also having his service dept research the 1inch lift on 2025s see if it’s possible.
Many different opinions in many forums I’m just curious what the answer will be.

My local dealer "fixed" my hood flutter by taking it to a body shop where they glopped more glue in there. It improved the flutter problem but didn't fix it. I also do believe that the flutter has come back a bit in the time between the fix and now, as if perhaps the adhesive is failing or separating over time.

These hoods need a mechanic fix.

Hood Flutter Investigated and Corrected

I have an appointment with Lexus next Friday for the hood fix. Based on the below.

I went for my 5k service and decided to address the open TBS. Dealer couldn't replicate the brake noise (that I only get from time to time), couldn't replicate the transmission slag from 1st to 2nd but were able to replicate the hood flutter. After which the service department checked and said there is a nationwide shortage for the kits with an undetermined ETA... Unbelievable!

Just had the modification done for the hood flutter. The truck was in for 3 days. Drove on the highway at 75 with winds around 45 MPH, very little flutter. Marked improvement from before when it looked like the hood was going to become airborne.

Finally, got mine completed - was the first GX in my dealer to do this and they had to keep it a bit longer saying that the epoxy was still gummy after 24hrs curing... Ended up breaking a tab on the wiper cowl which they ordered (nationwide backlog)... Saw improvements this morning in traffic but need to take it up in speed to feel better.

This is the fix. They have the body shop add adhesive "mastic seal" to re-glue the hood skin to the frame. I had mine done in Chicago in January before driving to Arizona. I put 5000 highway miles (80+ mph) on it since the fix. The fix made it a lot better (it was unbelievable how much it moved before - and a very distracting issue with dancing reflections while driving at high speed), but I don't think it will ever be as good as it should be because the hood skin is just too thin of a gauge in comparison to other high end vehicles using Aluminum for hood to save weight. Haters will say to "get over it", "every car with aluminum hood has flutter", blah blah blah, but imo its a design issue.

I had mine done at Lexus of Arlington last week. It was their first attempt and afterward on the second day, I noticed that there was an ever slight dent in the middle. I saw the light reflect off of it. Mine is an Incognito so everything shows. I complained and the Service manager promised to make it right. We'll see on Monday... Very pissed to be honest as I baby this truck lol.

I didn’t have much of a real flutter but brought it in. I was told later that my manufacture date and above did not include the problem. They checked with a fiber optic cable and did not find any issues. That made sense in my case since my flutter is more of a slight visible vibration in a small part of the middle closer to the windshield part of the hood.

I also don’t have any brake squeaks or transmission issues.

My manufacture date is Nov of 2024.

I did get the oil and filter changed at that time (2500 miles).

Mine is also November 2024. No problems just like yours. Maybe we got lucky.

I had my 2024 in for 10K service and plan was to apply the hood service bulletin. In my case when they went to pull the kit it was incomplete with availability forecast for May. I’ll share when they call that parts are available and effectiveness.

Another update on mine.
FYI - mine was an April 2024 build date - picked it up in July 2024.
Flutter is much better but on the second day under sunlight, noticed a slight dent in the center rear section of the hood.
Sent a message to the service manager and brought in the car at noon yesterday and their body guy corrected it by the evening. Now feeling more at ease. Hopefully this is a long term fix and I've always been nervous about water build up in the hood. On the other hand this is where the aluminum stands our against corrosion.

By the way, they also confirmed at the dealer that only a certain range of vin numbers were applicable for the service bulletin (earlier build models only).

Any ideas on what caused the dent? Something to do with the adhesive used?

Richard, I had my hood modified by Lexus 3 mos ago, first one they’ve done on GX. Overall the fluttering is much less than before but at speeds over 70 especially into any wind it’s still has an annoying flutter. I try to tell myself to just accept that this is how it will be but after owning Lexus vehicles for 25 years with few issues it’s tough to accept especially at this price point. I notified my service rep and waiting for his return from vacation to find out what if anything more can be done.

Took trip to West Texas this weekend in 2025 Overtrail. Mid March factory build date. Various speeds up to 80 mph. Serious winds with some heavy cross winds of about 40 mph. Didn't see any flutter or hood deflection. I've had a 4Runner for 10 years so know hood flutter when I see it. There is a black felt like panel fastened on the bottom side of the hood. Don't know if that panel was improved/re-enforced for 2025 or I just lucked out with the flutter.
