Largest AT tire that fits spare space of Premium+ (6 Viewers)

I searched the forums but couldn’t get a straight answer.

What’s the largest AT tire you can fit on the STOCK 20 inch Premium Plus wheels and still fit (even if just barely) in the spare tire space?

275/60/20 Vs 275/65/20?

Also, any major negative effects of driving with a significantly smaller spare tire for a few tens of miles?

If it helps, I am also planning to install a Wescott lift kit on it.

Thanks,

I went with Cooper Discoverer AT Road & Trail 275/60R20 and the spare fits no problem. Everything I have read says don't drive with a mismatched spare.

Looks nice!

Do you think 275/65/R20s would fit in the spare space?
I have a spare that is 33.7” inflated, and it just barely fits at normal inflation. That’s on my ‘24 Overtrail using the OE OT wheel. My spare is nudged in tight and is up against all touch points including the very back of the hitch receiver.

I don’t know if there are diffs at the 3 or 4 touch points up inside the spare tire space of non-Overtrail models.
I’ve attached the size comparison you’re asking about.
There is a slight possibility the size you’re asking about might fit most of the way upwards if deflated to low pressures.
Good luck.

EDIT: keep in mind the numbers shown are nominal only; final fit could easily vary between diff brands, model of tires.

I fit 275/60/20 Toyo at3 (33”) in there with no problem, but it’s pretty tight. I’ve heard a 34 could fit but hangs done pretty low from the bumper. Will also depend on tire style as they are all different

Some have successfully put on 285/75/17 (34”) but since it’s so snug, I think it would depend on the tolerance of your particular vehicle and tire choice. I have to find the time to remove my spare currently (275/60/20 - 33”) and try to fit one of my tires (285/75/17 - 34”) to see how it fits

There’s also the suggestion to deflate your spare to get it to fit, but you’ll have to live with the TPMS light on your dash.

Let me know if you try the 34s.

Most of the tires I am looking at are quoted as 34.1 (275/65/R20 KO3s).

F it. I just went out outside and tried the 34’s.

Good news - it fits. Bad news - It hangs pretty low and any larger it would have to droop down on the axle side since there is zero room left at the bumper. My tire is a Toyo AT3 285/75/17 and my spare is also a Toyo AT3 but in a 275/60/20

Comparison of an unloaded 33” to a loaded 34”. Pretty close but it’s deceiving

33” spare Installed. Tad bit of clearance all around the spare and it’s peeking out from a bumper level view

Here’s the 34” in the spare. Touches something at multiple points.

So does it fit? Yes, but might lose some departure angle if that is important to you and if you can stand the look of the tire hanging out.

I wish there was a 34” that was slimmer but even the 34x11.5 Toyo is really only 33.5”

Hope that helps
