Hello, does anyone happen to have a recommendation for suspension installation in the Phoenix area? I've received what I feel to be a very high cost estimate to install my new King suspension and upper control arms and rear links. The estimate is 10.5 hours and over $2,000 plus alignment at a bit over $200. I'd really like to go with this vendor but I'm not in the habit of throwing money away. Thanks!

Slee Off Road in CO is $1689 + $289 for the alignment. So yea, I would say its a little high, but nothing wriong payying a premium for a vendor you know, like, and trust.

My pricing is for the BP 51 system includes coil over shocks X4, Remote reservoirs X4, UCA’s, brakeline spacer kit, Bump stops X4.

Don't know any installers in the Phoenix area but there are several in So Cal that will do it for cheaper. Camburg will do it for $1,500. RPM Garage can do it at $160 per hour. RPM will install my Dissent front bumper when it gets here. I know a mechanic that will do it for $1,000.

Not much help for you in Phoenix though.

That's a bit high I would agree. My installation cost for the Kings, UCA's and alignment was $1,100 at the Truck Shop here in San Diego. I would keep looking.

Did you check with Westcott?

I reviewed my files and it looks like the estimate is higher than expected simply due to higher labor costs. In July 2024 their shop labor rate was $140 and now it's $169 for the UCAs and lower rear arms/links and $200 for the King shocks. It looks like the $200 shop rate is a penalty rate for me supplying the King shocks while buying the UCAs and rear links through them gets me the lower shop rate. Interestingly, the UCAs and rear links are a direct pass-through with no markup and there is only a $25 shipping fee on the UCAs and links (but free shipping from the manufacturer). The alignment back in 2024 was $130 vs. $200 now. I guess it's not too bad considering that the cost of everything has gone up, and considering they are a great shop staffed by great people. But a thousand here, a thousand there, really adds up! Maybe I'll drop the rear links off my order.

Not too much help…
But my full lift kit install with all the goodies (UCAs, bump stops, alignment, headlight adjustment, test drive, etc) was about 7 hrs of work. Plus tax. Don’t have the receipt in front of me.

Can’t wait to see how it looks and works for you Bill ! 😊

Thanks for all the feedback. Got myself scheduled for the install later this month. They laughed at my use of the term "penalty rate" for supplying my own shocks. They said no, not a penalty rate, that's just our rate if you bring in your own parts. LOL

I had to give up on the shnazzy Camburg anodized blue Upper Control Arms and rear lower arms. Too bad as the anodized blue was perfect with the King Shocks. I gave Camburg over $3500 back in late September with the promise that the UCAs would be shipped quickly and the rear lower arms would be a few weeks. The rear arms arrived 2 weeks later and the UCAs were promised in about a month, then by mid-December, then the guy that made the promises was no longer with Camburg, then they couldn't find my order, then a few days ago they said another 8 to 10 weeks on the UCAs. That's the end of that order. The Camburg rear arms are getting returned. There's no way I would have bought if I knew it would be over 5 months until I get the parts. Don't sell the stuff if you don't have it, or won't have it within a week or two! Imagine if I had put that $3500 in silver back in late September at about $46 per ounce. I could have nearly doubled my money. Instead I gave Camburg an interest-free loan.

I went with Icon's very nice billet UCAs. But I dropped the rear Icon billet lower arms off the order to save some $$$.

Hey Bill,

How much combined weight is your JW Offroad/Scar Winch? Asking because I'm getting the Dissent bumper/ComeUp winch which has a net weight of 175 lbs. I will need to change the King coilover springs to 700 lbs to accommodate the added weight. King said the standard load is 550 lbs and going up to 650 would work but they don't make it so will need to jump to 700. They said to not preload it so as to make the ride not so stiff.

By the way, when did you do Black Bear Pass? I'm looking to complete Engineer, Imogene, and Black Bear early September so looking for some feedback on Black Bear especially. I'm more concerned with the three tippy sections before the Steps.

Thanks.

Jack
