Removing factory running boards (1 Viewer)

Just removed mine today. Called around to Lexus and Toyota for some form of dust cover option for the bare plug with no luck. So I filled them with dielectric grease, electrical taped them really tight and zip tied them up. 🤞🏽 they stay dry.

My BMW had its TPMS module connector tucked away like that for 5+ years with no problem and that car will throw a tantrum if anything is even slightly wrong.

I didn't even put dielectric grease in it. I suspect you'll be fine.

Does anyone know about installing 2024 LC OEM rock rails on a 2024 OT GX550?
I'm not sure if anyone has done it, but if I was starting from scratch I'd recommend chasing down the part numbers for both and seeing if they are the same. Lexus and Toyota use the same part numbers for parts used on both vehicles.

@CaryGX550 i went the route you did and went with the LC boards. They are slimmer and give the truck even more of a lifted look.

My wrapped running boards are for sale if anyone wants an extra set in So Cal.

Removing and Installing both sides is a 20 min job max as a solo job.

Love the look. Do they feel sturdy? I feel like the GX running boards are very flimsy. Especially in cold weather, they crackle and flex... Are those the base standard LC boards? I will look into this myself.

Also, wonder how they align with the OEM mudguards in the front...

they are definitely lighter, but just as sturdy. I didn't have feel much flex in either step. Yes, these are the standard LC illuminated steps (I think they have unlit ones too - 1958 model?) and they bolt/plug in as a straight swap.

The front mudguards don't line up at all (the LC steps are a couple inches shorter at the front) and you'd have to buy the LC front mudguards which are cheaper than the Lexus tiny flap indented ones

Fred Anderson Toyota has 25% off and free shipping right now. You might have to spend $75 to get the free shipping, but now would be a good time to get oil filters and air filters as well.

Wow, I never cared much about adding mudguards but at $17/each with the 25% off I'm thinking about it. I think the Lexus rears are around $50/ea if I recall correctly.
