I see several threads about mud flaps. Don’t know where my situation fits in , so I’ll just tack myself here.
I have a 2024 Luxury that I bought in early 2025. I got tired of seeing salt spray all over the fenders when the highway department treats the roads this winter.
I ordered a set of A-Premium mud flaps off Amazon for $54.99. They are firm but flexible black urethane and are designed to fit Luxury and Premium iterations of the 2024-2025 GX550.
I installed them today in about 45 minutes. They look great.
I’ve driven 4-Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra models since 1988. This is my first Lexus and I don’t have a clue about why this vehicle didn’t come with mud guards from the factory.
I didn’t have to drill anything. No instructions came with them, but if you hold the flap up to its position you can see exactly which screws and push pins to use for the install. I used a narrow blade flathead screwdriver to pop the heads of the push pins and a T25 torx bit. I didn’t have an adapter for using a socket wrench, but I used a 1/4” socket which fit the back of the bit and it worked fine. You could remove the tires to have room to use a screwdriver and bit, but that’s just making more work in this situation.
Of the hardware that comes with the flaps, I only used the four black spring clips. Use the narrow-bladed flathead screwdriver to wedge the clips open just a tad wider than they are. It will allow you to grab the back side of the wheel well. You will know where from the molded area on the flap. Then slide the shank of the screwdriver out and seat the clip. Reuse the existing push pins and screws you previously removed. The flaps come with new push pins, but these vehicles aren’t old enough yet for the originals to be brittle. Note that one screw attaches to the underside of the vehicle on the rear flaps. Done.
I’ve attached a few pics for your perusal.
