This is unfortunate. (1 Viewer)

That's specific dealership bs tactics and not Lexus. I suggest finding another dealership. I had to wait a few months, but not pay an upcharge.

The same thing happened to me. I live in Miami Beach, and all the dealerships near me said the same thing: they were charging up to $15,000 above the MSRP. I kept looking until I went further north and found the GX at JM Lexus. The service was excellent, and I paid the MSRP for my Lexus GX. I've bought three GXs from them now. They're farther away for servicing and everything, but it's worth it. I should keep looking for other dealerships...

Is there a reason you don't get your cars serviced at the local Lexus dealership? No reason to go where you originally purchased it, unless the service locally is as bad as their sales tactics.

Thats an option. The downside is that in my states sales tax a trade in reduces the tax liability where as a down payment does not.
Should talk to your local tax office. In some states you can take the receipt from the sale to carmax and they will allow that value to count as a deduction on the new purchase for tax purposes. It varies by state though and adds a little paperwork but you might be able to preserve the tax benefit of the trade-in that way.

yeah, in Arkansas you can show a bill of sale within 30 days of the new car purchase to get the sales tax reduction.

Yes, indeed. The reason, besides the good service, is that they only tell me what I need in terms of service. I've had very bad experiences at other dealerships, where they make you come back every 1,000 miles for a tire check, rotation, and nitrogen treatment? They're making things up just to charge you for something they don't need to do. So far, I recommend this dealership to those who live nearby. JMLexus.

Received this e mail from my dealer.
I may start researching Land Rover Defenders.

Due to the current limited production, Lexus has significantly reduced the number of GX units we receive each month. Because of this, we are no longer able to reserve incoming GX models. Moving forward, all GX allocations will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis when they arrive.

In addition, due to the continued high demand and limited supply, the dealership will now be applying anadditional $5,000 market adjustment, on top of the $4,985 in accessories already included on the vehicle.
JM Lexus in Margate, FL (Ft. Lauderdale,) has in stock GX's at MSRP. Shipping would be far less than your dealership rip off mark up and you can have one now.

I personally got all my Lexus's (3 so far) not from the closest dealership in my area for sales, service and customer reasons I experienced first-hand with both over the years. They are owned by the same group, so go figure.

Sometimes dealership's location makes a difference when they know they need or don't need to go the extra miles to get customers...It's always good to shop around...

They did that in Arizona over a year ago. One dealer was a $10,000 add and another was $29,000 first come served, so I came to the conclusion that your going to pay more than you want for this vehicle if you want it. In my opinion it is a far more superior truck than the Defender. Might as well get a head start on the upgrades and go with a dealer like Lifted Trucks. They sell them with oversized tires and wheels and a lift. Some will have rock sliders and all the BS the dealer is selling you. Better hurry though, they know what Lexus is doing and they and are going to profit from it. OR JUST WAIT a year when everything settles.

I agree. Have an unfortunate friend with a newer defender - lots of irritation despite if being better than most LR’s
