I have now been waiting for a windshield and driving my brand new gx2024 with a huge crack for 90 days. The dealership has no answers, just keeps saying it’s on backorder and over 500 windshields are on back order. Where do these oem windshields come from?

When will they really be here?

No answers from Safelite either.

I got a new one in December and got a chip this morning. not sure how I got lucky to get a new OEM one the first time, but doubt there is another one.

I had a chip back in August that grew into a long crack. Ordered a windshield back in September but was missing the molding which took about 2 months to arrive. Got a new windshield in mid November and a week later, had another rock chip 🤦‍♂️
Filled that one and currently just riding it out.
Last time I asked the dealer in Jan, they said it's about a 2 month wait.

To everyone on this post who has had a cracked windshield, I’m assuming the replacement is on your own dime unless your comp coverage on your auto insurance pays for it after a deductible? I read in another post that some windshields have seemingly just cracked while parked and the cracks started near the rubber seal. I read that even in those cases, Lexus refused to replace for free. My two 4Runners over the years had cracks after being struck by rocks and I held on to not replacing until right before I decided to sell.

Free repair or replacement in FL

Thinking of trading.. I can’t take this crack much longer. Not getting another car that has windshield back orders… starting month 5 with a huge crack… I feel like my new car experience has been through driving a vehicle from the hood.

I am in the same boat. Has anyone heard any updates? I am being told they simply have no idea and it could be a very long time. Extremely disappointing.

Folks, I've been in a similar predicament since mid-December 2024 and still don't have my vehicle back in my hands. Unfortunately, last year some road debris (a large sheet of metal) was kicked up by another vehicle ahead of me, causing catastrophic damage to my windshield and creasing the passenger-side A-pillar.

I called the dealer, but they wouldn't take the car for repairs since the work required replacing the windshield, which they just outsource anyway. So, I worked with my insurance to get it into an auto repair facility. It's still there, waiting for a back-ordered windshield with no ETA.

After some research, I found the Lexus Brand Engagement number: 800-255-3987. I highly recommend that anyone experiencing similar issues flood them with calls and open cases regarding these delays.

I have an active case with them now, and based on what they've told me, it seems that 400 windshield units are being shipped to the U.S. Rumor has it that this part is shared with the Land Cruiser, so owners of those vehicles are likely in the same boat as we are.

Windshield Replacement Backordered Indefinitely They are apparently. Good luck with yours! Coming from an area where windshields don’t last long & most drive around with cracks I’m surprised both that windshields are hard to come by and that people worry about them to the point of having them on insurance. But yours is absolutely undriveable like that!

Anyone had their windshield replaced yet? I called both my local dealership and local glass installer this morning and it’s still on back order with no ETA. Parts dept told me the windshield alone is approx $1,300. I have insurance coverage in MA and am waiting on them to process the claim.

Luckily ours is on the lower passenger side and I can still drive.

Body shop just got windshield in last week, still waiting on status of repair. Was about 90+ days to get the part in my situation. Talking to Lexus customer experience team there is some huge issue with getting these parts into US. Can't get a straight answer as to why however, very frustrating.

Uhh... is this what we all have to look forward to even if one buys into the Lexus Tire & Wheel Protection Platinum plan?~ I mean... it says it will cover the repair of minor chips and cracks in the front windshield caused by road debris... not imagining a full windshield replacement, but what if, because of their delay in repair of a minor chip/crack, it spreads and becomes bad enough for a full windshield replacement? Anyone have any experience with that?

Sorry for all of you who are reconsidering owning this vehicle because of those issues!!!
