Now that our GXs are getting to maintenance and replacement.... what is the OEM brand of windshield wiper used on the GX? And... what is your favorite wiper alternative?

For every car I always go with OEM wiper inserts, leaving the metal blade.

How easy is it to pull the rubber off vs replacing the blade? Wondering why you chose just the rubber over replacing the whole thing. Sure looks a heck of a lot cheaper but the rubber I feel is not the best quality out there
Difficulty depends on the car. I haven't had a need to try the GX yet since it's not that old, so I'm not sure for that one. I can say pulling out the whole blade can be a knuckle-buster, especially when it's cold out.

I like swapping the just the rubber blade because I like the idea of keeping the metal wiper from the factory, and I don't usually feel like I get better performance out of the Bosch Icons that I have tried out in the past.

I found Toyota OEM blades worked much better than after market blades I have used in the past. On my 2014 4Runner they were very affordable and the metal strips that come out with the blade were in great shape after 8 years. Don't know if the GX has the same set up but when I do replace the blades will definitely go with the Lexus blades. Nothing more annoying than a noisy or poor performing wiper blade.

I found the stock wipers would leave streaks on the glass, usually after the first sweep. Our road crews have overdone the road salt this year and I assume this has something to do with the steaking.

I replaced the blades with Rain-X 5079277-2 Latitude blades and so far, they don't streak.

I've had good luck with these blades on other vehicles.
