I took my 550OT to by bodyshop buddy and he told me pretty much this. the clear coat is very soft and is ment to absorb potential scratches and dings. This is why i decided to just PPF the entire vehicle. Not sure about you guys but at delivery of my 550 there was some Lexus wax that was included. It looks like it is a soft not fully cured clear coat. Now I need to figure out if I can ceramic coat it.
Agree on PPF. IMHO, PPF will provide better scratch and ding resistance over clear coating over the long term.I took my 550OT to by bodyshop buddy and he told me pretty much this. the clear coat is very soft and is ment to absorb potential scratches and dings. My detailing buddy says this is bullsh*t as no clear coat is self-healing. Personally did PPF on the front clip & ceramic coated the whole truck.
Sounds like your detail buddy needs to educate himself. My detailing buddy says this is bullsh*t as no clear coat is self-healing. Personally did PPF on the front clip & ceramic coated the whole truck.
