3 Issues I have encountered so far

I bought the 2024 GX 550 in November of 2024. After driving about 3,000 miles, these are the issues I have noticed so far.

Are these covered under the warranty?

1. Brake Squeal When Backing Up:
When I reverse, especially in the morning or after the car has been sitting for a while, I hear a loud squealing noise from the brakes.
2. Driver Side Mirror Vibration at Highway Speeds: When I’m driving at highway speeds, the driver-side mirror vibrates, making it difficult to see clearly behind me.
3. Squeal/Sharp Noise from Rear Passenger Side While Turning Right and Accelerating: When I am at a stop sign and turn right and press the gas pedal, I hear a squealing noise coming from the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

All should be covered under warranty

1 - There is a TSB (L-SB-0036-24) for the brake squeal. Dealer has to order parts and replace your front pads and rotor.
2 - use the palm of your hand and press firmly in the center of the mirror. it might be that not all clips are engaged

IDK whereabouts in MA you are but I got mine at Balise Lexus in West Springfield and they were able to take care of the brake squeal within a week and half of the appointment, once the parts came in. Took a couple hours, no need for a courtesy vehicle, and I've had no issues since. Just glad to no longer sound like a school bus every time I pull up to a light!

I got my GX from Lexus of Sharon. I just called them and they said they have ordered the parts. Did they cover this issue free of charge? I am hoping this is covered under the warranty. Thank you

Yes, all covered under warranty Apologies for the multi responses...no clue how I've managed that!

Would you mind sharing any part numbers or documentation for the driver-side mirror? I'm also experiencing a vibration issue, but the dealer said they cannot test it at highway speeds, so I'm unsure how to address this problem.

I have the same issue. I reported it to the dealer but they couldn't fix it. Apparently the 2022 and 2023 NX had the same issue and they released a TSB for this. I don't see anything for the GX though.

Any way to safely record the issue on video while you are driving? Maybe when you have a passenger behind you to record.

I tried to record while driving, but it somehow doesn't show up in the video. I also had my friends test it, and they all agreed that there's a noticeable vibration. I'll report this to Lexus corporate and see how they respond.

I took a technician on a test drive on the highway to show him an issue (hood flutter) and he video taped the issue. Ask your dealer service if you can take a tech with you so you can show them.

That’s what I did for my still-there hood flutter. Tech and I went out on some local stop and go streets at like 35 mph so he could see it. He wrote it up and it’s in the maintenance system now.

I also noticed vibrations on driver side mirror on a recent long highway drive @ 70-80mph.. making it hard to see .. kind of making me dizzy.. it was worse when it was windy. Maybe I didn't notice it as much earlier on as we were driving mostly in the dark during winter last few months.

Technician at dealer took it for a couple of test drive and kind of agreed that there is vibration. They have not seen any TSB from Lexus. They raised the issue to Lexus and I am waiting to see if they have a fix. At the same time, they removed the hood to fix the vibration at high speeds, this was subtle, sometimes it doesn't move much but on windy days, it was really distracting. For the hood, they removed the entire hood, and had to keep the car for 24 hours for the glue to set. I also had the front brakes replaced at 5k miles service due to squeaking noise - it happens going both directions - forward when it is very cold - it can get really loud, sounded like a tractor trailer or semi was slamming on the brakes next to me. Reversing was not as bad. Anyway, after they replaced the brakes under warranty, haven't had any issues with the brakes.
