Anyone worried about their V6TT?

I have ZERO worries about the engine failing, but let’s say it goes to poop. I cannot think of another MFR who would do better at taking care of it/making things right.

Who gives you more piece of mind; Jeep or LR who continually build crap?

Here we go again...I thought I could lie dormant for a while but no....

My 2025 Defender 110 V8 has been ROCK SOLID. Way fewer issues in 7500 miles than my GX 550 had in 1500. One warning light fixed same day (airbag sensor wiring).

Older LR's were nightmares - more recent builds of the Defenders have been pretty solid. They had an issue with the hybrids recently, but who the hell wants a hybrid anyway when you can get a turbocharged V6 or a supercharged V8.

I hope that defender keeps being great for as long as it can be. Man, i had a Disco 5 from 2017-2022, its amazing how it drove I just simply loved how that boy isolated everything.
Thing is, you have many issues on the way, while in warranty is amazing and resolved easily, attending the dealer and doing flashes of the system. They are great and hearing of mechanical issues are very little. It all depends on what engine and how many quirks you add to the vehicle. That 5.0V8 is old tech. Meaningore realible and easier to repair on the long run.

Toyota replace the frame on my friends Tundra that he bought used, was about 10 years old and had well over 100k miles on it. That's pretty good customer service.

Perhaps LR is better nowadays but I've learned my lesson. If I buy another, it will be an ooooold Defender 110 that I want to work on because I know it will be a flaming piece of sheit. If my wife really wanted one, I'd rent a new one for a couple years (meaning lease) and then dump it back on the dealer like last night's burrito.

I have a good deal to dump my GX and pick up a 110 right now and build it to spec. I've had nothing but issues with the transmission in this truck and it honestly drives like shit day to day. Been to the dealer twice now and they claim no fixes are available and the best they can do is reset the TCM which solves absolutely nothing. I have a case open with Lexus as well, but have not been contacted yet to evaluate the issue any further.

Sorry you’ve had such a bad experience. The transmission is one of my favorite things about our GX. I’m glad you’re getting a good deal and wish you better luck with the LR.

Sorry to hear you're having such problems. I'm just north of 40k mile on mine and really, no issues.

I hope you don't use Google for healthcare decisions...

Land Rover makes lots of different models, and the new Defender is pretty dialed in, particularly the mature and well proven supercharged V8.

Land Rover was on the list of cars we considered before buying our GX. Our local LR dealer is also the Infiniti dealer so we went to drive both the LR and the new QX80. The sales person helping us actually talked us out of considering a LR. He pointed to all the LR’s parked in back needing repair service and said that was, unfortunately, typical. LR’s may be better than in years past, but they are still consistently ranked below most manufactures in both quality and resale value. It’s a shame as they are great looking vehicles.

I am very sorry to hear and to read this. thing is its a 2024 Gx. Every single new car even if its lexus , can have problems. Sorry thats the experience, but i learned my lesson,to never buy a new model. waiting at least 1 year when a model is new.

Wow. In the aviation world those are known as ‘Hangar Queens’!

Wow. In the aviation world those are known as ‘Hangar Queens’!
This was the crux of my problem....I daily drove and wheeled the hell out of these trucks (and a 1996 Discovery before the 2004). They should have stayed in the hangar.

After thinking about all the history and looking at the number totals, I think the 2013 was overall a better vehicle than the 2004 even though I grew to hate it. With the 2004, I bought most parts for maintenance and repairs and did the work myself. The 2013 just went straight to my local independent Rover shop. The 2004 was a simpler vehicle and I actually had the time (and desire) to do the work myself. The 2013's problem was that it had too many bells & whistles such as air suspension and the touch screen and fancy electronics. High tech + Land Rover produces disastrous results when combined in a vessel and shaken. I really miss the 2004 and I despised the 2013. I think I was just jaded by then. My Rover mechanic convinced me to get the 2013. I tallied my payments to his shop and it totals $29,326 for the 2004 and $26,957 for the 2013. I guess maybe he had ulterior motives.

2025 Lexus GX 550

I had about 270,000 miles on 3 Rovers.

Your issues with your GX aren't necessarily broken items requiring repair. They are things that you didn't like. I'd understand if your list was along the lines of "infotainment system crapped out, water pump threw a bearing, cooling hoses blew, radiator blew, engine block cracked." You know, like a Land Rover.

Yes, the original transmission programming sometimes gave it a jerky hiccup when coming to a stop. Reprogramming has resolved this issue. Yes, the rear spoiler over the rear window feels loose when you grab it and wiggle it...I haven't looked in that because I'm not sure how that's a problem...I simply stopped grabbing it and wiggling it. Not sure what your audio issues were. If you just think it doesn't sound good enough for a $xx,000 truck, then that is your prerogative but to say it required dealer repair is disingenuous.

What I really love about not having to waste time with Land Rover repairs anymore is that it gives me more time to argue online about Land Rover repairs.

We've owned LS's, RX's, GS's, and IS's over the years. Problem free. I expected better.

And LMK when you want to race. :devilish:
