ARB Rooftop Tent

That is pretty freakin' cool.

I checked ARB's website and confirmed that it also has black-out curtains, which is a must for actually sleeping in past sunrise. The wide-open windows all around are beautiful for scenery but no so much at 5:45 AM.

That ladder is a ladder that is finally cool. The handrails and the wide, flat steps are awesome. Storing the ladder in the tent shell is a major bonus, well done ARB.

The downsides: size and weight. Your roof rack real estate is now nearly 100% dedicated to your tent. And at 107 kg / 236 lbs base weight, you're probably pushing 250 with a mattress, blankets, pillows, etc. That's a lot of weight up there, you'll feel that on road and off road. I'd rather forego the electronics and save some pounds. The one-touch power opening is awesome but that probably adds 20 lbs alone. Still, you're James Freakin' Bond when you press a button at the campsite and up pops your hotel room for the night. The wireless chargers, fan, switches, lights, etc. are also way cool but also add a lot of weight. There's so many options for portable, USB-charged lights and chargers nowadays that you don't need to haul it around 24/7 on your roof.

Another downside: the 5-large purchase price. LOL

I'm not sold - 230lbs up there is a load, and I can set ours up in about a minute by hand. But it's cool how they pronounce ARB "A-Abbey" 🙂

James freakin bond is when you get to the site, you disconnect and your 12 year old uses the hand-held remote to drive the camper into the ideal position, then pushes the button to raise the roof and create a tempered glass condo. :)

It's just a freaking shame that it's not off-road worthy.

OK, now that is spoiled rotten!
I sleep in the rooftop tent on the tow vehicle. That way the girls don't wake me up if I snore in the event of too many campfire cocktails. ;) But it is insanely nice and comfy in there.

(I can also get up and properly make coffe outside without waking anyone up.)
