Car care nut review (1 Viewer)

Upon first look, I missed that this is for the 2025 Model Year, and assumed it was a repost of his 2024 review.

I especially like Car Care Nut because he is one of the few reviewers who puts the vehicle up on a rack and actually gives a review of what he sees. The few others who rack the vehicle will do a walkaround with less scrutiny, they'll say things like, "oh, rays rims, that's good ...".

I see the video has been up for six hours and there are already 280 comments. He has a large following.

2 takeaways. It’s not a 460 and “if the engine holds up”….it’ll be a great suv.
It was not surprising to see that he recommended more frequent oil changes (i.e., every 5k miles) than the manufacturer (i.e., every 10k miles). I was, however, a bit surprised by the fact that he suggested that it may be wise to change the oil even more frequently than the previously mentioned 5k mile interval. That doesn’t instill a lot of confidence.

I picked up his comment also. In fact I had to replay/rewatch it a few times. It's at 35:20.

Keep it in context, go back about 40 seconds from the timestamp to the start of that topic. He compares the GX550 engine to a GX460 and GX470 engine. His comment is 'If you want this (engine) to last don't do 10,000 mile oil changes, do 5000 max.' But he doesn't go any further than that statement.

He also links a video on taking care of turbo engines (link), and in that he video he makes this same point this again "you must change that oil every 5,000 miles even less on a turbocharged engine. Or six months even if you don't put the miles...".

My conclusion is 5000 miles (or six months) is the max. He's had two opportunities (this being the second video) in which to deep dive on that very point but he has not done so, he just leaves it at "5k max, or less."

For me, I'm planning to do changes at 5k. The 10ks at the dealer (while under warranty) and the 5ks myself.
