We are next on the list for a OT at our local dealership and today realized I could not find a 12v socket in the cargo area or back seat. We keep a fridge for camping, road trips and grocery store runs in our current vehicle and my wife has uses it regularly.

Is there no factory socket or am I over looking it? Has anyone added one?

Thanks

Thanks we were looking for 12v

The 120v pictured does that stay on w ignition turned off?

Appreciate the replies

The outlet in the back is one of those quirks that annoys me a bit. It actually shuts off when the GX starts to move, so you have to remember to hit the button up front each time restart the vehicle, It's become a fun little game for us with the ICECO on our trips. First world problems I guess, but I'd rather have it like the one in my PowerWagon rear seat that turns on automatically when the vehicle starts.

The dang waste of space cool box sure fires right up each time though to keep our sunglasses, flashlights and the other 27 pieces of flare my wife consistently has to hide in a vehicle. :ROFLMAO:

Too be clear, 7 months in, and I still absolutely love our GX and smile each time I see it in the garage or she lets me drive it!

that’s hilarious and what I was afraid off

Nothing I can’t modify but shouldn’t have to. The 12v in the wife’s jeep we are trading in stays powered constantly.

The transformer for the 120v is behind the receptacle, but it's not exactly easy to reach. However, like was mentioned you can grab 12v there. Otherwise, that will be a long fish to get it out of the front.

I wonder if it will be like the 120V and the 12V up front only powered while running

I can confirm, the 12v in the center dash/console only powered when running. Maybe powered when in "accessory" position. I didnt' check that. I tossed in our little Iceco 21 qt yesterday and powered it from the dash 12v socket for a day trip. It shutdown at every stop we made. I may be in the market for a lithium power station, since we also have a 35qt Vevor fridge and a 55qt Dometic fridge.

I was hoping for someone that has blazed a trail here. I quickly looked in the back today. I think the jack cover is a good place to bore a couple holes and tap into an always hot line, possibly the trailer connector power. That's where I got always hot 12v in my pickup and mounted some sockets in the bed near the tailgate.

I found a module below the 120 plug, the wiring doesn't look quite right, but I haven't got the entire side panel off.

I was thinking about running a heavy 10 gauge wire to power the back 12v. In our 80 series I converted an ARB single outlet to a standard 12v plug and mounted it to the carpet next to the drivers seat. This was an easy access to plug in the fridge and it used up the wire run from the cord to that came with the fridge. This allowed for the shortest wire distance (length) to the battery. We run the Engel MT45 and never had any issues with battery draining to low. We do not stay put for more than a day.
