Does the GX have the same engine issues as the new tundra?

Was talking to a guy in the industry and he said hey have you had any problems with the gx550? I said no and he said well the tundra has the same engine and has had major issues. Have their been any gx550 engine failures with those same issues?

No issues. Wonder if they had the issue figured out before they launched in early 2024 potentially adding to the delay. Definitely heard it was not an issue in the Japanese plant the GX550 is manufactured at.

Engines were manufactured in different plants. Seemed as thought the US made versions had the defects?
There were LXs recalled with the same engine as the Tunda but their engines were manufactured in Japan. According to a video by The Car Care Nut there changes made in February of 2024 and I think all the GX engines were made after that time.

I own a '23 LX 600, so I'm invested in this topic. Let me preface this by saying I'm not an engineer, nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn last night.

People are very quick to hate on Toyota when they have an issue (as all manufacturers do).

Toyota identified a process flaw in the manufacturing. That flaw was isolated to a specific period of time. The engines produced in that time frame are being replaced.

What's important to note is this doesn't appear to be a fatal engineering fault, but rather a missing step in the assembly of the engine. (Removing the resin.)

For what it's worth I love this engine and the 10 speed transmission it's paired to. The vehicle never feels underpowered, or stressed out the way my LC 250 feels at times (read that as buyer's remorse). I'm lurking here because I'm thinking of trading it in for the GX 550.

What’s the thought with having bought an LC250 and an LX600?

His and hers?
We have 3 drivers with a fourth on deck in our household and we have different use cases. We have an EV that we use around town, but there are moments where my wife needs an ICE to show homes in cities without well-developed infrastructure (EV/Roads). We got the LC 250 as a fun vehicle to fit multiple uses (beach, trails and local trips).

We use the LX on road trips and family outings, and we love it.

I have a GX LX and RX and I hate how they have not standardized the interior on the three cars, looking for the power button or front-view button is different in each of the three cars, so stupid.

I have a 2022 Tundra and the engine went out at 45K miles. Toyota was publicly mum about the issue at the time it went out. However, when I went to the dealership, they knew what the problem was when I walked in. The GX550’s may not have enough miles on them to say yay or nay.

I am following a thread from last night in the Facebook group 2024+ Lexus GX (GX 550 & GX 550H) - where a guy was driving on the highway in his Gx550 when the vehicle lost power. He described it as a loud noise, loss of power, and all lights came on.

The description does match up to Tundra engine failure itself. This will be interesting to follow.

Please clarify on the above comment if you're referencing the 2024 early Tundra engine failures, with the Toyota engine replacement program, or if there's a recent Tundra engine issue in 2025? Thanks!
