There have been varying comments on gas range and indicated distance to empty (DTE) immediately after fillup. It’s been noted that the DTE uses a computation of fuel loaded and recent mileage per gallon. Not sure how often that recalibrates, but I’ve found something that might help.
The gas station fuel pump nozzle clicks off when the sensor detects backsplash from the tank. If you then continue to fill the tank verrrry slowly, I’ve found that I can routinely squeeze another gallon into the tank. Not exactly life changing, but I get DTE figures in the 310-323 mile range when I do it.
I’ve been running in ECO mode recently, and on the highway running 80 -85 mph I’m getting between 17 and 18 mpg. This is a stock GX 550 Overtrail with no roof rack.

That's much higher mpg than I get at that speed. What tire pressure do you run?

That math doesn't work though, does it? A fuel tank of 21.1 gallons at 17 mpg should result in a range of 359 miles.

So basically, at 17-18 mpg, the actual range isn't awful - between 350 and 400 miles. I'm getting 265 DTE on a full tank with "around town" driving, which would suggest real range of 300+ for city, and 380+ for highway. That's not as bad as I thought. Usually stop every 4 hours on a trip anyway. I'll still be carrying a Wavian jerry can on long trips....just because.

Yup! Mine always says approx. 289, but when I fill up at 30 miles left, it pops at 16-17.5 gal.

Just saw in the manual that the "official" fuel level at which the warning light goes on is 3.2 gal remaining. It all makes sense now!

I'm running 36 psi cold on the stock tires. This is without a trailer and only a few items in the cargo area. Plus skinny me.
