GX550h hybrid trunk space is mind boggling

yep. They did it again on the lx700h.
Is this some kind of joke Or loyalty compliance test for the Toyota fanboy?

That's horrible. With 3rd row seats in place, you have enough storage for a few small bags, looks like a typical airplane carry-on wouldn't even fit.

Then with the 3rd row folded you have an angled deck guaranteed to roll all your crap out the back when the hatch is raised. Genius.

I was seriously considering a lx600 after the midcycle refresh..But an Overtrail is LX700h exclusive. So in order to get an Overtrail, you must live with those hideous 3rd row situation .It's a pass for me.

I guess they didn't get the feedback on the new Toyota Sequoia, or just choose to ignore it.. 🤷‍♂️

I mean the batteries need to go somewhere.

Until we are comfortable with solid state storage which is the next revolution chemical batteries just volumetrically take up a certain amount of space per joule of capacity. The only revolutions in this regard has been how to package them but the underlying chemical substrate hasn’t changed for decades.

Man, have you guys sat in the new TX, you would never know that there is a battery pack under the flat rear floor for the 500h. So how come they are able to create such a beautiful setup with the TX and not the GX. And I am not going to lie, while they are different trucks for different purposes, I am considering either one. And the fit and finish is so much nicer on the TX, well at least the F-Sport 3 finish on the TX. They add beautiful leather door soft panels, with some alcantera across the front dash. F-Sport seat logos and seats and steering wheel. While the TX looks a little blah from the outside, the inside is a whole other thing.

I still think I am going to put a deposit down for a GX (Luxury+ or Executive here in Canada), and hope I am happy with it when it arrives. I was going to wait it out for the hybrid model, but there is no way I am going to live with even less space back there with a big raised box. I am already accepting to have less room versus a TX (or my current VW Atlas), taking even more space away with the battery box is beyond poor engineering and build !!!

they are different platforms but you are right, the tnga-f truck platform it’s just poorly designed. Can’t believe the newer lx700h even got a reduced 17.9 gal fuel tank. Every fill up 260 ish miles is crazy for me…I believe current 911, a two door sports car can be ordered with 23 gal tank….. what a world we live in…..

For me it is a bit of everything, and I am removing the off-roading aspects of the GX here. The new design (or re-design) will attract a whole new market segment, people like myself who never looked at ever owning a Lexus truck before (we own an IS however). There are many in this segment.

Lexus has a hit on their hands for looks. It’s like owning a mini Hummer, tough looks. And these people may be used to owning previous trucks that are fuel efficient, roomy, nice interior finish etc and all of a sudden are left asking if they are willing to live with so many drawbacks for such a cool looking truck that will in fact remain a mall crawler, grocery getter, boulevard cruiser, car meet modeling.

The same can be said for the C8 GM released back in 2020 (which I own). It was also a hit and was designed to attract a new market segment (younger guys and exotic car owners), instead of the white head new balance wearing guys who had 5 vettes prior to the new model.

So Lexus has to wake the f*** up, look at the competition, even look into their own parts bin, and see how they can build these trucks for 2025+++, because most of us peeking into this new model for the first time are expecting more out of it, whether it be quality interior, or fold flat seats, or fuel economy, and all of the other complaints listed in this forum. Most of which many will forcefully turn a blind eye because they want to be seen and drive that cool new toy of a truck !!
