Since GM's initial announcement in April 2021, I've had a Hummer SUV EV reserved. However, according to the most recent email I received from GM, production has been postponed until the fall of 2024. With all the issues surfacing about the Hummer EVs, my interest is dwindling. I'm starting to believe that the GX550 may be a more dependable choice for long-term reliability. Is there anyone else here who has reserved the Hummer SUV?

Everything I've read about the Hummer has been crap. They can't even figure out the leaky roofs... I think they look amazing but I have no faith in GM to produce a quality product this early in the lifecycle of the car... their track records with EV's is pretty poor.

My money is on the Lexus. Of course, you can probably get the Hummer and resale it for a profit.... so both is still an option.

I put a deposit down on the Cybertruck and the Hummer SUV just in case either of those turned out to be options once they become available. At this point, I don't think I'm going to purchase either one of them, but we shall see.

I still can't get over just how ugly the Cybertruck is. Abomination is too kind a word :)

I find it amusing that the general consensus is that the Cybertruck looks awful, a rolling refrigerator or dumpster, yet when I went to the giant car show here in Montreal, the biggest crowds were around the 2 Cybertrucks that were on the floor, one of them wide open for the general public to sit inside and fondle as much as they wanted. So while everyone is hating on it, there seems to be a fascination about it as well. I cannot tell you how many fingerprints were on that thing, the poor guy trying to keep it polished had his work cut out for him.

I too love the design elements of the Hummer EV, especially the t-top roof. I can just imagine driving down the highway with the family on a 10-hour road trip from Montreal to Jersey. However I have also read the horror stories, and people getting stuck out in the middle of nowhere, because they could not find a charging station that would work with the truck. Watch this entire video, I think it pretty much sums it all up....

That's really sad because with Tesla you never think about it. My wife has an EQS580 SUV and the range anxiety is a real issue

The Hummer EV is a great lease, the GX is a terrible lease.

I have never seen anything as hideous as the cybertruck.

It looks like something a 4 year old would draw, on a really bad day.

If the hunchback of Notre Dame showed up at a gathering, I assure you there will be crowd around the poor fella too.

There are enough people in this world who have the money but who lack any sense of beauty, class, elegance or any sense at all.
Every time I see one on the road I cringe.

My wife, who knows little about cars and is very tolerant about ugly cars, could not help herself and asked me if the Cybertruck next to us was a "home-made" car?!:ROFLMAO:
"No", I said, "It was made for those who have never heard the story of the Emperor's New Clothes".

I decided to test drive a Cybertruck to see firsthand what it was like. So, I scheduled a test drive yesterday and picked up the truck in downtown Austin in a congested industrial park. I was anxious to try the FSD (Full Self Driving) because I had heard how good the newest update was. I jumped in the truck, and the salesperson explained everything to me where I felt comfortable with all the controls. I picked a random coffee shop in the navigation, activated the FSD, and off we went! I hovered over the controls and brake to take over whenever I felt uncomfortable. Along the route was every kind of random city obstacle you could imagine. There were trucks with trailers half parked on the road, a guy trying to back into a spot that took up the road for a good minute, pedestrians, people on bikes, protruding curbs, etc., and the Cybertruck navigated around it all perfectly! It was so good, and we were having so much fun being easily driven around the city that we let it shuttle us around to do all of our errands for an hour. The cabin feels futuristic and very quiet. I didn't notice any squeaks or creeks. The seats were super comfortable and well-bolstered. Overall, the interior was a lovely place to be. The large center screen and tech are the best in the business, and the stereo is fantastic!

Are the looks polarizing? Yes! But everything else about it is excellent! So much so that I left the test drive trying to figure out how to add one to my stable.

Being the ultimate petrolhead, the test drive completely changed my mind about the Cybertruck. Does it make sense as your only vehicle? Probably not, but having one as a second or third vehicle is an attractive proposition. If you genuinely enjoy new vehicles, gear, and tech, you will like what the Cybertruck does well, even if the exterior design isn't your thing. I suggest scheduling a test drive and giving it an honest chance. If anything, you will get a kick out of seeing where automotive technology is headed.

Good to hear a first hand account of the function of the Cybertruck.

I do not doubt it left you impressed. Your account left me impressed.

I was merely commenting on its physical appearance, which is most definitely polarizing to say the least.

No doubt! I'm trying to figure out how to wrap it and what wheels to get to make it look better, if that's possible. Otherwise, I think the pros outweigh the con.

I copied your review and posted it to my FB page, where I am sure the majority of Cybertruck and maybe even Tesla haters exist. So many call it a rolling refrigerator or dumpster. Yet, everyone turns their head when one appears on the road. And at our recent Montreal car show, it had the biggest crowd around it

I understand the design isn't for everyone, but when you're inside of it, you don't have to look at it.
