I have an GX 550 OT plus with stock Toyota Open Country tires and I’m wondering how many miles people get on these tires before they’re replaced. I can see that people haven’t had these cars for very long, so maybe nobody has gotten that far and knows an answer.

could be 10k could be 40k...you'll get answers all over the place based on your driving and maintenance habits, but the most common one on this forum will be "I don't know" since they changed out the stock wheels..lol

Agree. My Lexus service guy said some maybe 20k, maybe more, but has seen significant wear at lesser mileage. This is the OEM version of the Open Country AT lll, not the retail version sold at discount Tire and other dealers.

I've got about 11k on mine now, wearing ok. I confess to liking buying new tires and always do it before I really need to, so I'm almost hoping for a sign that I need to change them. I want to stay with 33s, and would be looking around for recommendations.
Best,
Mark

You might already be aware, but the OE tires have less tread depth than the retail versions. I measured 11/32 new, while similar retail market tires are 14/32 or better.

I'm at 22k almost entirely on pavement and I was noticing they are getting worn down quicker than I expected, now I know why. I'll have to replace fairly soon, probably by end of summer. That said I still have tread, I need to measure it to know exactly.

True. Removed my OEM's with 25 miles on them to mount different tires. Tire dealer accidently cut the bead on one of the OEM's so gave me a retail AT lll version as a replacement. When they rolled out the new AT lll I my first question was "what tire is that?" Also, checking the sidewall on these tires I saw OEM Treadwear 360 Retail tire Treadwear 600.

I had no idea. That sucks. The manufacturer can’t save that much money doing that????
My understanding is that it is about initial ride quality, quietness and possibly fuel economy. Less tread and possibly different compound. Great for the test drives and comfort (although not many have a chance for a test drive in the GX550!) but less great for treadlife, as noted by @MtnGX above.
