Mark Levinson Amp Updated (1 Viewer)

You had the ML System before and the replacement is the 'newer' Mark Levinson?
Got my amp replaced yesterday (finally) on my 2024 GX 550 OT+ under warranty. Definitely better (IMO), still a bit lacking, but worth getting it done if you can. The bass held up at 50+ and didn’t cut off to the “tinny” sounds. I’d like to flip out the speakers and, hopefully, get a more “quality” sound, especially in low range. My fourth documented complaint since October 2024. JM Lexus in Margate Florida came through with a three week wait time! Was told on prior occasions by other dealerships, that a fix wasn’t available but the complaints were a “known issue.” It really is an improvement!

I just called my local dealer and they had not heard of this yet. Anyone run across a Service bulletin number or similar yet?

There's no service bulletin. I complained about it and asked for repair under warranty. They checked it out and agreed something wasn't working as intended.
I think the assumption is that if you can't show them how it's bad, they assume you don't need it to be better.

Just had my 2024 updated with the new AMP - much better! The issue for me was that if you leave the sound front speakers biased it was good - but as soon as you fade to the rear the sound died. The new AMP greatly helped with that. Will say that Lexus does stand behind their vehicles.

Has anyone updated their rear door speakers?

Lexus San Diego declined to replace my amp (2024 GX550 OT+, 45k miles)

I brought the TX TSB and the invoice from this thread, and demoed the fader test to the tech. He admitted the rear has almost no bass, but said it's "designed like this". He said corporate would only approve a claim if he could reproduce both the high-volume cutoff and lack of bass, as stated in the TX TSB. The high-volume cutoff doesn't happen on my GX, so it's "working as intended". They did not have a 2026 on the lot for comparison.

I'm on software 1300, and they won't update to 1402. Even the base-speaker RX loaner sounded much better in the rear than my Mark Levinson.

Planning to escalate to Lexus corporate. Has anyone gotten a replacement or update without the cutoff symptom? Any SoCal dealers or advisors you'd recommend?

The dealer will not do anything without corporate. You need to open you complaint there.

Update: Lexus support reached out to me and said they "discussed with dealership management.", the TSB is only applied to TX, and they would like to back up the dealer technician's conclusion that the amp replacement is NOT necessary, since the technician is "trained and certified". This is beyond my belief, and I am curious what training they did so the technician believes that rear speakers from a $1000 system should sound like a telephone speaker.

Anyway, Lexus support wanted to close my case. What else should I do to get this case escalated? Should I contact another dealership?

If Lexus NA is saying no, not sure what options you have left. Dealers will not do anything to replace under warranty if corporate says no.

They said they only do coordination, and since there is no official TSB for the GX, they will rely on the dealer technician's inspection
