I was surprised and disappointed that Lexus of Colorado Springs does not have a Parts & Accessories counter for customers. And this is a new dealership facility roughly a year old!. To me that strikes me as about the dumbest thing ever. In contrast, I love visiting the local Audi dealer's and nearby Toyota dealer's counters and display areas. I recently busted the horizontal red light lens on the rear liftgate of my Overtrail and went to my local dealer to order a new one. To get a parts guy, the service counter guy had to call back to the parts guys back in the bowels of the facility and around 5 minutes later a guy came through an unlabeled door with a small note pad to talk to me.

Are all Lexus dealers set up this way? Surely not I would hope. Is there a rationale for this that anyone might know? Is there a Lexus dealer in the Denver area that is customer focused and has a parts counter? TIA

BENDOU,
You might try Stevinson Lexus in Lakewood. I was there once..can’t promise, but think they had a parts ordering counter. Had an oil change there, basic service, they seemed on top of everything and eager to please. Give them a call.

I've had similar encounters.

A few weeks into ownership I went to the parts counter at the Lexus dealer where I bought. Evidently, they don't get much walk-up business. It was a very small counter with a doorbell button to summon someone. I wanted oil, a filter and a crush washer. I had planned a 500-mile oil change. They said: "We don't stock oil. There's no demand for it. The service dept uses bulk containers." All this was surprising but OK by me, the dealership is located in an affluent area where people typically don't do things like their own oil changes.

I drive a few miles down the street to a Toyota dealership, where to get a parts guy one has to go to a service writer and ask. Their service waiting area was big and busy, probably 10 or 12 service writers. They said "wait here and someone will come out to see you." It was efficient enough, but a first for me where there was no physical parts counter.

A few weeks later I was nearby a different Lexus dealership. On impulse, I stopped in, asked, and found the parts counter. It was a fully separate entrance at the rear of the building. No one was around, no cars parked nearby, nobody coming and going outside the building. I walked in and amazingly It was fully stocked up with Lexus swag, jackets, sweaters, golf shirts, umbrellas, pens, coffee mugs, coolers. It reminded me of a gift shop in a high-end resort hotel that caters to golfers. Even more amazing, their price on Lexus oil was 2/3 (i.e., 66%) of what the Toyota dealership charged for Toyota branded oil. So, whenever I am nearby I will pickup oil, a fliter and a washer for my next oil change.
