Offroading In So Cal (1 Viewer)

Great Idea. Interested in meet up/parking lot take over and doing a group trail.

For a group trail, may I suggest a beginners trail like Cleghorn. Ease it in and relatively close. Regardless, I would do whatever. It would be nice to see fellow enthusiasts and share experiences.
I'm good with Cleghorn. Have never been there so it'll be good to try something new.

Im down to hang with some other GX owners outside of the normal Starbucks setting. However, if I spill my vanilla latte, I'm going to be PISSED.

Does this review of the Cleghorn sound accurate:

"First half was easy going, a few side trails which were not bad. On the back half, I took a right onto what seemed a medium hill climb, and it was. Beyond that was 2 miles of serious ruts and Manzanitas. Grazed all four rims, running boards are trashed, as well as front and rear bumper trims. Did I mention the Manzanitas? I'll need new paint on both sides. Lucky no body damage. Unless you have a serious rig, stay close to the main road."

According to Trails Offroad the Cleghorn trail is a graded fire road. However, there are many optional routes are rated difficult. The main road is fine but you may damage your vehicle if you take the optional routes.

Count me in as well. Cleghorn would be fun if we have some one that is familiar with offshoot trails that are moderate difficulty otherwise driving on fire roads isn’t that much fun. 3 other spots in Orange County are holy gym in mission viejo north man divide in 74 Ortega and Santiago peak in eltoro . I’d rate them level 2-3 difficulty but beautiful scenery and closer to Orange County if that’s most of the people are located. In any case I’m down to try new places

these are good close by options. I'm down for anything.

I'm gauging interest among So Cal members for offroading trips in the Southern California region. Destinations include Anza Borrego, Big Bear, Alabama Hills, White Mountain, Death Valley, Trona, Mojave, etc.

Please chime in if you're interested and maybe we can start something of an offroading club like the Land Cruiser members. If nothing else we can get together and check out our builds.

I’m in Huntington Beach and ready whenever.

Good morning all. I would suggest mutiple meet up dates and each one have something different.

As suggested before by others, the first is a meetup/meet & greet at a parking lot (Best Buy/REI on 5/Jamboree - central to OC) on Saturday, 10/4, 10am. Plenty of eats close by including In-n-Out. We can share ideas, check out each one’s rigs, etc. I can setup a small table/sign-in sheet if you want to be on a future contact list (with it, we can create a group chat and perhaps charter an OC GX group. I’m not on social media so group chat is best for ppl like me lol). Coming from running local travel baseball background, I have some experience in organizing. Many benefits to organizing besides being part of a community of like minds (sharing ideas, group buys/discounts, community involvement as a group, etc.).
And another date where we meet for a trail run. Perhaps in few weeks after or November (eventually doing a monthly event). Trail TBD (Santiago Peak, Cleghorn are close by).

Anyway, I hope to see you all on October 4th. Friends, family, pets, non-GX 550 owners are all welcome.
