Orders with moonroof delete - Overtrail

Can anyone recommend any dealerships that are taking orders for Overtrails with the moon roof delete. So far I haven’t had any luck and will probably just get on a list for a standard overtrail with the moonroof. Thanks!

I currently have one on order at the Tulsa Lexus dealership. Basically I was told it was not likely, but they would watch the builds each week and if they could get one, they would. The dealership did a nationwide search for the delete code and found a total of 5 out of the last 800+ builds, so the chance of getting it period, especially in the color I want are slim to none. I told them I'm willing to go a few months to see, but after that will just get an Overtrail in the color I want when they can get it.

Obviously what my dealership said can be filed under the stuff dealerships say, but I have no reason to doubt them as they are not pushing anything else on me.

Can’t custom order a GX so it would just be luck of the draw with allocation. Personally, only seen 3 moonroof deletes (1 white, 1 earth, 1 nori)

I originally wanted OT Incognito (solid color , no +, no options) with moonroof delete. I was told by a few dealers that I was looking for a unicorn so bought what was available. Good luck - hope you find one.

If your dealership did a nationwide search like that then that qualifies as a wow, going above and beyond credit to them.

That they are not pushing or steering you to something else is a good point. But keep in mind that if you do not buy that 'something else' model then the next guy will.

I checked with few dealers to see if all PIO can be removed and keep only FIO and there was only 1 dealer who said yes we can do that. Rest all said we cannot remove anything and had to buy as is. Since GX550 market is crazy now dealers know they can sell it easily and someone will buy who is already in line for months.

I think that's the main issue - not enough trucks, too many buyers. I switched tactics and snapped up the first one I found within driving distance.

Not a bad approach. I waited over a year because I refused to buy the OEM roof rack, passing on a few options until I got an allocation from a dealership that would let me delete the PIO. I'm not sure the delay was worth $1500 to me, especially since I ended up with the MSRP bump on the OT.

I definitely overpaid by like 10k over what I originally wanted (bare bones OT to fully loaded OT+), but I just wasn't willing to wait the x number of months/years until my local dealer could get me what I was looking for.

I'm about to do the same.

While it is entertaining and almost fun and all that to talk to the sales guys, once you read up on here (and elsewhere) about the current market for a GX, you get to a point of asking how much more effort is worth it to find a dealer to save $600 doc fee (or whatever fee).

The calculus is different for everybody, but that's the conclusion I came to. Initially we went to a local dealer, drove a used OT+ they had on the lot (stickered at like $96k mind you - USED) and put down a refundable deposit. Then later that week I started poking around online, found this forum and other sources and figured we'd be waiting forever so I just scoured dealer websites until I found something a few hours away and grabbed it. It was worth it to me to pay the no hassle tax and have truck in hand. I value my time pretty highly though.

I thought the doc fee was something which cannot be waived off or removed, is it not for for processing paperwork ?

It is supposedly for processing paper work.

There's a fee "Delivery Processing and Handling" of $1,450.00 on all build sheets I've seen. That cannot be taken off. I'm talking Lux/Lux+ and Prem+, I haven't seen build sheets for OT/OT+

People on here are seeing $99 (low end) to $900 (high end) documentation fees. These are fees a dealer adds on top of the build sheet listing, (total on build sheet = total MSRP).

"Doc fees" is sort of a catch all phrase. When I asked in those "gimme the OTD price" discussions at multiple different dealers, and keeping in mind I'm a sample of one, I've gotten different but similar answers, such as "it's our fee for Docusign services," or "it's what we charge to process the sale" or "our internal documentation and paperwork processing fee."

That last explanation sort of makes sense. However in that light so would "$125, that's our fee for having a receptionist", and "$20, that's our fee for having chilled bottles of water on hand to offer to you," and "$100, that's the fee for pulling new vehicles into this nice, shiny-floor, indoor showroom so we all have something to look at while you decide if you want to part ways with your hard-earned money! (So stop bothering me until you're ready to buy something!)"

I'm cool with waiting a bit. This is a third vehicle so it's not a priority. I'd rather wait a couple extra months to see if I can get what I really want. They have a good allocation so it shouldn't be much of an issue to get one with the moonroof when I decide I'm tired of waiting.
