Currently have a deposit down for a '26 OT, but considering changing it to an OT+. From what I have been able to gather, the main differences are that the OT+ gets:
  • Acoustic glass on front windows
  • Gloss black window surround (B-pillar) and the little nub thing
  • Additional door seals
  • Kick sensor for hatch
  • Sun shades for rear windows
  • Wireless charger is standard
  • Additional silver trim around the cup holders
  • Option for ML sound system
  • Massaging front seats with power leg extension thing

The main things that I am considering upgrading for are the additional noise reduction stuff (acoustic glass / seals), and the option for the ML sound system... I am coming from a '14 4Runner Trail Premium with K03s so am used to a loud car, but one the main reasons for the GX is to get something a bit more refined.

I called around and finding an OT and OT+ to test drive seems pretty tough. Has anybody had a chance to drive or be in both who can help me understand how big of a difference the acoustic glass and ML sound systems produce?

Good luck in your selection. Another extra that the OT+ has is head-up display on the front windshield in front of the driver ($900); expensive but a nice extra. I have owned 2 GX550 OT+ and IMHO, if you can afford it, buy the OT+ and then you won't have buyer's remorse. Either way, you will be happy with your OT.

thanks! The OT also has the optional HUD now, so it's really just the extra noise suppression and better stereo as selling points to me.

Welcome to the group! I don't have the ML sound system but I've read enough in this forum to know most have found it disappointing. If you enter Mark Levinson into the search bar and you'll find some long threads about it. Good luck with your GX purchase.

I think your list is missing heated rear seats and also a washer for the backup camera. The OT+ also has the phone as key as an option, if yours has it would depend on the build.

I feel like I remember someone on here did do a back to back comparison with a sound meter and it was not a major difference. Or I might be thinking of over on the LC forums where they added the OT+ glass to their cars and it was like a 1db difference.

You could try driving a Lux or Premium + trim to see if you find them quiet. The OT+ has the same sound deading as those, just with all terrain tires, so if you think those are loud by your standards then the OT+ will still be loud as well and you know it's not worth the extra money. All in it's going to be about $10k more to get the OT+, which is not an insignificant amount of money. I bought the OT, if I did it again I would probably get the OT+ just because I'm bougie and want the nicest version and common sense won out when I ordered mine.

But overall, I don't think my OT is loud. I came from a Model Y which to me was significantly louder.

I had OT and now have OT plus
I do enjoy the extra weight in the door
Maybe it’s the extra speakers in the OT plus or the acoustic glass or the seal but the OT plus door feels super solid and heavy compared to OT makes me feel like the money is justified… both stereos are not that great I found the OT seats are more comfy and better seat heaters than OT plus
So don’t feel bad either way
I could be wrong the other thing I noticed on OT plus is the rear door handles have the sensors to lock and un lock. My OT did not have sensors on rear doors

I bought a 2026 OT, which came with a wireless charger, cooler box, and head-up display. I wasn’t aware that the OT+ comes with a washer for the backup camera. Regardless, I couldn’t be happier with the OT.

Do you - or anyone - have pictures of the ‘Additional door seals’ on the OT+ ? I’d like to see what I’m missing out on, and possibly reduce a bit more of the front cabin wind noise. Either by finding the OEM parts, or using some aftermarket materiel.
TIA.
DJ.

We switched from a 23 4Runner ORP with KO2's to a 26 OT two months ago. Everything is better with the GX including the road noise. When we put our name on the list, we wanted an OT but an OT+ was supposed to be available 'in a couple of days'. That turned into a five weeks and the OT became available in the meantime. We're really happy with the OT. I just couldn't justify the price increase for the OT+ but would have done it if that one came in first.
