Paper thin Windshields

Check your insurance before spending $1k+ on a dealer windshield plan. My insurance (Farmers in AR) will replace windshields for $100 deductible and no fault.

I typically do not purchase extended warranties of any kind. However, when I purchased my GX, the salesperson reviewed the available coverage options and strongly recommended the windshield protection plan. I believe the cost was around $1,200.

After doing a little research, it appears windshield damage is a fairly common issue with the GX due to the vehicle’s windshield geometry and angle. Based on that, I decided to purchase the coverage. The package also included dent and ding protection as well as key replacement coverage.
Not sure of your local. In Florida, if you have comprehensive insurance then the state requires your carrier to provide 0-nada-zero deductible full coverage for windshield replacement. For just a few hundred more than you paid for your "windshield" coverage, I got a 9-year 100k bumper to bumper extended mechanical policy through Toyota Financial (Platinum Policy.) In Florida the windshield is considered a "life safety issue" since sensors look through the windshield to be effective. I replaced 2- in 90-days before trading the GX away for something more suitable for my lifestyle. Would have been over $4k.
