Hi Y’all,

I’m trying to tap the mirror fuse to power on my radar detector, only problem is the radar detector won’t turn off when I power off the vehicle and exit.

I tapped the red wire in the center where you would plug in the dongar cable and use the black/white as the ground.

Anyone come across this issue?

Here’s mine tapping that same location. I previously had a mirror mount but it got busy in that area because of the FITCAMX camera

Does anyone know if there is any constant power wires in there? I bought the FITMAX hard wire kit and it would be nice to connect that additional wire somewhere in there.

Look at first post of this thread. The OP originally wired his as constant power.

Be careful there. You are tapping either a 5 or 10 amp circuit. Your radar and dashcam need 2 amps. You need an inline fuse at 2 amps. I got this on Amazon and there is enough wire to add a fuse inline. It also wires BOTH the radar and dashcam. Linked here:

Blendmount sells wiring sets with the 2A fuse already built into the tap wires. Definitely smart to have a fuse in-line.

Thank you for your guide on the mirror tap, I have been struggling.

I have a 2024 OT+

but my wiring colors look different than your I think.

Do you have a clearer picture or are the colors off?

Any ideas or help?

I ordered this wire kit on Amazon (no affiliation), Amazon.com.

Of the three wire options that come with this kit, I used the needle shaped wires circled below. You may just want to located and order the needle shaped wire harness.

As mentioned above, I inserted the black wire in the lower left most slot with the black wire from the GX wiring harness. I inserted the red wire immediately to the right of the black wire (second lower left slot) with the white wire.

Works like a charm and only when the ignition is on.

For anyone following instructions in this thread be aware the wire placements suggested are incorrect.
The solid black wire is positive and black & white wire is negative.
