I got my GX in White Pearl on November 24th. When I got it home I was wiping the bugs off the front of the car (PPF sure makes it easy to get the bugs off), I found a “bug” on the front of the roof. Turns out, it wasn’t a bug, but trash in the factory paint! I took it to a body shop and my dealer to see if there’s anything they can do about it. Everyone agreed that it would need to be wet sanded and repainted to fix it, and no one recommended doing it. The detailer at Lexus even made the comment, “There’s no paint like factory paint.”

In reality, this isn’t a big deal, it’s quite minor. If you weren’t looking for it, you wouldn’t even notice it. But who wants a brand new $80k vehicle with a paint defect, regardless how small it is?

Has anyone else ever seen something like this? If so, how did you fix it? What do you think Lexus will say?

Cmon, the dealer should make that right for you. After all it's a Lexus.

If I wanted them to sand it and paint the roof I don't think they would bat an eye. The issue is the white pearl paint, matching, and repainting a roof on a 1 week old car. If I carry your comment about Lexus out, we shouldn't even be having this conversation, right?

It’s your call and if you’re ok with it that’s all that matters. The first pic made it look much worst than the second.

Issue resolved! Authorized Lexus body shop was able to fix it without painting, the guys there really know their stuff. Lexus took care of everything!

Great news the dealership is addressing the issue. There’s an Atomic Silver OT I saw, I believe on FB (if I recall), described very much the same, tiny piece of trash but located in the hood paint. The selling dealer he posted, discouraged disturbing the factory paint, however, suggested a reputable paint/body shop. Good luck with your GX!
