Just left “Munkeeboi’s” house (MKB) with my new “Lexus” hood deflector in hand.

Kudos and continued thanks to MKB for going out of his way for the GX community to order these. Doing so was a serious time sink.

I pulled up to MKB’s beautiful home and “wow” his GX looks bold and beautiful in the driveway.

MKB’s GX has a stance that looks planted and solid on 285/75/18’s with OME shocks, lift springs and track bar to retain OEM like ride (per MKB) …. and with black emblems and accents the Nori Green Pearl just “pops”.

It really looks great and looking at his build at $15k less than mine and many of us with OT / OT plus models, begs the question if picking up a premium, and spending a few thousand on tires and suspension MAY have been a better way to go.

My thoughts now are that for new potential GX buyers on the forum, the MKB approach IS likely the smartest approach for 95+% of buyers.

Is EKDSS, a built in compressor, massage seats and a nice sound system actually warrant paying $15k more.. looking back, the decision was made to buy an OT plus and i continue to be thankful and happy. But were I restarting the process .. …. Hmmmm?

If I was starting my search - had I seen MKB’s rig in 2025, I almost certainly would have been jaded in that direction.

Feel you OIB .. trust me, if you’re like the rest of us, one week after you get one and install it you’ll be looking for the next accent or accessory that you “really need” .. …

It does look GREAT on MKB’s rig..

As do the OEM rain covers on the side doors (allowing you to port windows when it’s wet outside).

Installing my deflector on Friday or Saturday. MKB talked me through the simple process.

Looks great on his vehicle. I suggest whoever orders from MKB in the future throw in a few extra shekels to make it worth his time.

Will post about the process next week.

Side note: it’s been a joy being part of the GX forum, meeting folks face to face, shaking hands and breaking bread together.

Beyond being a yellow book of unusual monikers, I believe that through one another’s participation, we are building a “community” of enthusiasts who continue to cultivate friendships through their selfless support for one another.

I’ve got the Toyota version wind visors coming in from Japan soon. Can’t seem to order the Lexus version anywhere.

Just waiting for MKB to give me a chance at one of the GBs or for someone to back out
