2024 GX Trailering: BRAKE! (backing up help needed)

I used my 2024 GX550 OT+ to trailer my boat for the first time this past week to take it to my local marine dealer for service before putting her in the water for the season.

GOOD NEWS: The OT+ ride, power, stability et al was GREAT in pulling my 21' fishing boat. Barely feels like the boat/trailer is back there compared to a 2018 Nissan Armada that I've used in the past. The GX was a dream to tow with!

BAD NEWS/HELP NEEDED: Backing up the trailer with or without the boat on the trailer itself...the automatic BRAKE! warning and emergency braking engagement - what a PITA!!!! The vehicle repeatedly automatically braked as if I was about to hit something as I backed the boat down the ramp, or later, with only the trailer, into my garage. When the vehicle/trailer comes to a very abrupt stop, you have to tap the brake to get the vehicle moving in reverse again. SOOOO annoying.

My question: How do I/can I disengage the automatic braking while in reverse? I had the vehicle in trailer mode, and also turned off the collision avoidance (I think that's what it was called) that you can find quickly in the shortcuts on screen menu. Is there another way I can turn off the automatic braking feature when trailering in reverse?

Thanks,
JS

Check out this thread. I had the same problem as you.

As said, disable the ‘Parking Assist’ feature which is a button left of the steering wheel. You’ll still see a warning message & light that its disabled which is annoying but will fix your problem
