When I purchase a new Lexus, the option to buy extended warranty(VSA) starting date is from the date of purchase VSA or by the end of factory warrant (4 years) expires? It doesn't make sense if the starting date is from purchase date because it basically overlaps extended warranty with factory warranty. It should be purchased close to 4 years when factory warranty is about to end. What is the benefit of purchase extended warranty on the same date you purchase new car?

The only advantage I see is that pricing goes up and it'll most likely be more expensive by the end of the factory warranty. That being said, I elected not to purchase until closer to the end of the factory warranty.

Obviously the extended warranty doesn't apply until the standard warranty expires. You're not paying for overlapping warranties or double-coverage, there are no such things. You take advantage of the opportunity to buy an extended warranty at the point of purchase because you'll pay 2025 dollars for a warranty that will be in effect from 2029 to 2032 [basic warranty ends after 4 years or 50k miles and, in my case, the Lexus Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement extends the full warranty (basic & powertrain) for an extra 3 years or up to 100k miles].

The average inflation rate for the past 5 years was 3.45%. If you run the numbers out, you'll quickly see that $2500-3000 today is well worth the extra coverage that will be in effect from 2029 to 2032.
