2025 must have fixed a lot of issues. I've been very happy since I picked it up on Friday! I’ve only put 250 miles on my 2025 OT+, but so far, so good.

Based on a lot of comments on the forum, here is what I'm experiencing on those issues.

  • No brake noise.
  • No excessive wind noise.
  • Lumbar works fine.
  • No noticeable hood fluttering.
  • No first gear downshift roughness.
  • No vibrations. I set Tire pressure to 34 and seems about right for me. I feel the road surface like in a sports car, but the bumps are nicely damped.
  • I turned off ML surround and it works great. Granted my hobbies have really diminished my hearing over the years, but 20 is about as loud as I need it.
  • It’s not been warm enough to need the AC so I don’t know how it will act in hot temps, but I turned off the concierge and it behaves nicely so far.
  • My tach disappears in any meter mode when ACC is on, so that must be normal.
  • Front cross traffic is not a problem. If my foot is on the brake it doesn’t overreact. It only starts beeping if I’m moving or if my foot is not on the brake and there is cross traffic.
  • I turned off the driver attention thing. Stays off so never an issue.

One thing I'd like to hear comments on. The only thing I’ve been surprised and disappointed in is the Lane Tracing feature. I’m leaving a 2023 Grand Cherokee and it's semi-auto drive did a great job at reducing speed for corners and giving it the old college try before admitting defeat in a tighter curve. And when it gave up, it lit up the dashboard in red and gave a lot of bold warnings that I needed to manually take over. The GX550 just gives up without a fight in what, IMO, should be an easily handled corner. And, when it throws in the towel, doesn’t really let you know. You just find yourself driving right off the road and wonder what the heck just happened. I tested multiple times and caught it before it actually fully left the road. The learning point is that I’m not going to use it on any road that isn’t pretty straight. I haven't tried it on the interstate yet, but I've lost trust in using it on state roads with curves. What are your experiences with Lane Tracing?

Lane tracing the same here.

Takes gradual turns decently but scary when it gives up and sends the controls back to you without much warning.

Not a huge fan of the auto lane change feature. Too aggressive of a lane change for me.

I'm more frightened that the the general driving public is out there handing controls of their full sized vehicles over.

Just effing drive.

Semi-auto lane tracing is pretty nice. On 12+ hour interstate drives it definitely cuts down on fatigue. And you still have to keep your hand on the wheel so you have to pay some attention. Definitely safer than people I pass who are playing with their phones and drifting lanes.

Out of curiosity, do you have the oem compressor on yours?
If so, have you used 12V DC outlet while driving (ie, does the power stay on while driving)?
Thanks!

I do have the OEM compressor. However, I've not used the DC outlet. It has a DC and 2 USB ports. I'm thinking they stay powered up with the engine and the on/off switch is only for the compressor.

I wonder if some of the issues were implemented towards the end of the 2024s as well. I haven't had any issues with mine. If you spend a day on some of the Facebook groups out there, you'd think that Lexus released the newest iteration of the Yugo.

The reason why I ask, is to determine the operation of 12V DC the same as the 120V AC. As in the DC powers up when engine is on but shuts down when you're driving. Per the head master tech mechanic at my lexus dealership, the 120V is controlled by ecu and cannot be circumvented.
Which prevents me from using my fridge directly plugged in or charging up my LiPo generator to power my fridge while driving.

However, if the DC stays on when driving.. I may entertain the idea of adding in the oem compressor vs going with aftemarket inverter and pulling 8-12g line from battery to back cargo area.

I just ran a test. The DC port with the compressor only comes on when the overall compressor unit power is turned on, which is fine since there is a separate switch to operate the compressor itself. The compressor power will ONLY come on when the engine is running. when the engine is off I could not get it to turn on (probably too much pull on the battery).

So, if you want to pull power when driving it looks good. If you want to pull power after turning off the car, that's probably not the best power source.

I did not test if the power shut down when in gear and actually driving, but owners manual says the AC switch only requires engine to be switched on and doesn't mention driving.

Thank you for testing and confirming power is on when engine is on. However, does the power stay on when you're driving?

To further clarify, the AC is also on when engine is on. (Same as what you described for the DC in the compressor). But as soon as you drive (as in shifting into Drive) the AC power shuts down. That's what I'm asking or trying to figure out..
Thanks again!

No, the tech is wrong and the manual is correct. I just went out and tested both the AC and compressor DC in drive and they work. The only thing you have to be careful about is the AC power has a 400W limit and might turn itself off to protect from overload.

Oh wow!! I wasn't expecting the AC to work in drive! That was my issue on my '24 OT+..!
Rear cargo AC outlet won't stay on, any solutions?

So both AC and DC stays on when driving on yours.
Well.. I am overdue for my 5K maintenance at the dealership. I'm gonna pester them about this and see what they can do with mine.
Thanks so much!

Mine is a 24 and I’d agree on all your points above. Maybe mine is late in the model year, dunno when it was built. Point being these issues are not common to all 24 models.

The tach disappearing when ACC is on is normal - if you pay attention you’ll notice that the center of the screen is reserved for important ACC/lane assist notifications and warnings. For example, that is where there is notification if a vehicle merges into your lane, or if you need to apply force to steering wheel. If the meter setup was shown where you have 2 gauges, this area would be blocked, so I think it’s totally normal that the meter display changes when you engage ACC to free up this part of the screen.

Coming from a Tesla, I think the lane assist actually works really well. The issue with my Tesla was you had to apply significant force to the wheel or it would go insane with warnings. It took nearly as much mental effort to keep it’s “I’m touching the steering wheel” algorithm happy as just steering the darn car. The GX seems happier when my hand is just on the wheel and not really putting much effort in. In either vehicle, I’d only use lane assist on long somewhat-straight stretches with normal/light traffic, so the fact that it can’t handle tight turns is not really a big deal to me.

Just got back from 6 hours of driving to/from a remote backpacking spot. The truck does is all, cruises comfortably on the interstate, handles twisty roads with surprisingly good handling and of course is a great performer off road. I’m super impressed with it! Any issues are super minor, but they include:

1. The interior temp sensors seems to be about 3 deg off. I have to set it to 67 for it to perform like any other car would set to 70. This can be fixed by 2 deg with carista which helps. Also high quality ceramic tint on front windows and windshield seemed to really help regulate the interior temp.
2. The heated/cooled seats are weak both in heat and cooling.
3. Really should have a faster/easier way to access the massaging seats, and wish they would stay on for longer than 15. Plenty of space next to seat heating/cooling to add massage shortcut.
4. Remote start from the app/siri doesn’t always work.
5. Gas mileage sucks, and the tank is too small, but kind of knew that going in. 16.5mpg cruising mostly at 78 on hwy in eco mode. (I do have a roof rack and the stock AT tires).

My 2024 delivered in Dec also doesn’t have the issues listed.

Same, my 2024 Lexus OT+ was delivered early January 2025 and I haven’t encountered any issues besides the wind noise due to the roof rack (which I don’t mind, I just bump-up my music) and the hood flutter (which is very minimal and not noticeable to me).

Currently have a little over 1000 miles on my SUV.

I got my 24 OT in mid February. I only have the slight hood flutter. Everything else is perfect. No trans clunk, break squeal, vibrating mirrors or wind noise after 2,300 miles. The only thing I'm concerned about is the upright angle of the windshield that lends itself to breakage. I've already had a few light hits. The traffic assist is sooooo nice.
Haven't had it off road yet so I'll see how that goes shortly.
I would have waited for a 25 but my 2022 GX 460 was piling up the miles.
I think they worked out the issued on the late 24's.
