25K service - Rear brakes more worn on my GX (6 Viewers)

Sharing to see if others see similar. I had the brake squeal SB done at ~10K on my GX. I’m now at 25K miles.

I just completed the 25K service. The rear brake pads are 2mm more worn than the fronts. My rears have the full 25K miles on them, but still am a little surprised that the rears see that much use. Both left and right show same wear. Braking performance is great, no pull, no pulsing, no (unexpected) hot brakes, no dragging brakes.

I do make frequent use of the ‘hold’ function and when off roading the crawl/descent control. Perhaps these work the rear axle a little harder than otherwise?

No big deal, just different than anticipated so sharing with the forum to see if others have similar..

My wife had a Range Rover and the brakes wore the same way. Had to replace them first. The dealership said the brakes are programmed to operate that way, which results in shorter braking distance.

Traction control/stability control and performance/handling improvements can often make the rears wear faster than the fronts on modern SUVS.

IE under non emergency braking the braking systems could favour the rears to help prevent nose dive and some SUVs grab the rear inside brake in a corner to help the car turn a bit faster.

Your adaptive cruise may be the culprit. Ever time it senses a vehicle & you slow its uses the rear discs.
