When activating Siri the system ducks the audio only for front driver side speakers rather than ducking the audio for the entire vehicle. The reason Podcasts are paused is because iOS makes a distinction between spoken and non-spoken audio. When using the iOS audio system only spoken audio is paused.

If the music is blasting or Siri volume not set loud, then only ducking the driver's area isn't always enough.

This is definitely a “new” Lexus issue, as no other car (any brand) that I have used with CarPlay has this behavior. Super annoying for such a little thing.

If you are going to use Siri as designed, it should all be true “hands free” for safety. You should not have to think about first turning down your music volume. You should also not have to have Siri blaring loud above your music (one helpful work-around that is suggested.)
