Brakes jerk or lock up when coming to a slow stop (4 Viewers)

I had my 10,000 mile checkup yesterday and brought up that I’ve been feeling the downshift again.

They ended up doing a recalibration on the engine and transmission computer.

The downshift is gone for now but he mentioned that if it returns, like it just did about a month ago (around 3 months after my 5k checkup) to bring it back because Lexus is releasing an actual repair for this problem soon.

Makes me think it’s probably going to start doing it again sometime in the future.

I already posted this in a different topic, but I wanted to share it here just in case you miss it.

03/30/2025 - I confirmed with my dealership that Lexus has released a new transmission program to address the downshift issue for 2024 models. If you own a 2024 model, you may want to check with your dealership about this update.

For the 2025 model, Lexus has not released a new program yet. According to the dealership, the codes for the 2024 and 2025 models are different.

Thank you for posting this. I don't know why I didn't think about looking for a Lexus GX forum because I've been complaining about this issue with the Arrowhead Lexus dealership in Arizona and they continue to tell me that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. Also, when I'm in idle my vehicle decides to vibrate a little. I don't know if anyone else has had that issue as well. I have a 2024 GX luxury plus model and I only have 11,000 mi on it and I started having these issues from the beginning. Any feedback on the vibration is much appreciated.

I think I was able to decrease the idle vibration in my vehicle by performing an idle learning procedure I found on the internet, but YMMV.
  1. Turn off the AC (grey "blip" above the AC button - if you see a blue "blip" or don't see any "blip" at all, the AC is not turned off) as well as any major electronic consumers like headlights, front / rear defrost, the 120V inverter, and heated seats.
  2. Drive the vehicle for at least 15 minutes until it is at operating temperature
  3. Come to a full stop in Drive
  4. Wait for 30 seconds
  5. Accelerate to at least 6mph for at least 2 seconds
  6. Come to a full stop & wait 30 seconds again
  7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 a few times - as many as you have the patience for (I think I did about 5)
Could be placebo, but it does feel like I have a more stable, nearly vibration free idle now, in every situation.
