Transmission Issue - Dealer Claims Nothing Can Be Done

Ok, thanks for coming forward with the info. With that said... I'm out, I refuse to purchase a defect, this truck is a cobbled up mess. Lexus is fielding a 75k dollar problem for you all to solve. Not happening,
Up to you of course. However, every single first model vehicle has bugs that need to be addressed and Toyota is not immune to this syndrome. They have already addressed some of the issues we had on the 24s with the 25s. I trust Toyota to make it right as they usually do. With the 3.4L Tundra (US made) engines, everyone basically gets a brand new engine - that is a good move they did to save face... I love my GX550 Premium + and do not regret my purchase whatsoever! Best of Luck!

I live in FL and had my 2025 GX Premium+ picked up by the dealer valet at my home to service my transmission. Part of their service is to come to you and leave a loaner if you don't or can't come to them. They did do the reset and I was told that Lexus is aware of the issue and working on a permanent solution as the reset is only a temporary fix. The service manager indicated it would be in the form of a recall and all done at Lexus expense. I'm in the - "I love my GX camp" and have no regrets about my purchase.
I haven't had any of the other issues, (hood flutter, strange noise, worse than stated gas mileage). Some people expect a perfect car without any problems ever. For those folks, just watch the rest of us enjoy (buy a Range Rover to bash).

Toyota/Lexus seems to be quite slow in getting software updates out though. And this transmission has been around for a while, plus it's not a complicated system as in a hybrid. Really no excuses for not addressing it more expediently.

I am experiencing two issues (assuming they are related):
1) Hesitation when accelerating from a slow roll, assuming its a shift delay from 2nd to first gear
2) Intermittent mild jerk when slowing down from 2nd to first

Yes they are related. Need to have the trans reset performed until Lexus issues a permanent fix. What model do you have? Seems the OT has been mentioned the most. I have a Premium +.

I used to have this problem from 2k-3k, I went into settings and my trailer brakes were on in the system, so toggled that off. Then turned on tow/haul waited 5 seconds, and changed it back. I kept upshifting for a 14mi trip on the highway, (was trying to cruise with the paddle shifters to see if I could raise mpg), but then noticed since then something just feels different, changed and it feels so smooth now. shrugs, might be worth a shot guys.

Dealership performed a "hard reset" on the TCU and it seems to have corrected the issue for now. I was experiencing similar issue to what others here have reported. Will see how long it lasts.

For me the biggest concern is if this will cause harm to the transmission long term. I’m willing to wait for a fix but longevity concerns me. Hopefully there is a fix before winter.

I just started noticing this issue on my GX (2024 OT) and brought it in today (June 12th). My service advisor informed me that both them (my local dealership) and Lexus is aware of the issue and there is a software update on the way but no ETA.

When asked about long term damage to the transmission or if the truck is fine to drive in the meantime, my service advisor assured me everything is fine stating that it shouldn't get worse than what it is now.

For context, my 2024 OT is currently at 8,991 miles and I've just noticed a small jolt when coming to a complete stop. I experimented a bit and found that the jolt mostly does not happen when the truck is in the comfort setting. I haven't driven it enough in comfort to determine any correlation though.

Anyway, happy to be in the trenches with you all.

Thanks for the update. Good to know they are aware and acknowledging it as an issue.

I will let you know what my dealer says during my 5k service.

So happy I gave up my OT+ allocation!
Everything I read on this forum reinforces my decision.
Lexus is not known for exciting automobiles, but reliability has always been its strong point. With reliability gone and small issues galore, what's left? A boring, underperforming car(s)?

Happy for your choice. But what are you still doing here and what do these posts contribute to the community?

To update with some additional info if anyone is still concerned about living with this issue while Lexus rolls out a software update:

Since posting the above reply, I've put an additional 2,000 (+/-) miles on the truck after noticing the issue (this includes a road trip to Ohio totaling 10 hours each segment). The minor jolt is still there when coming to a stop but it has not gotten worse nor have any other issues occurred.

TBH I think this is somewhat symptomatic of many 10 speed transmissions. I had it with my GX 550 and also my F-150 Powerboost. The 8 speed units I've had in my Porsche and my Land Rover have been smooth, without sacrificing performance. It seems like 10 speed transmissions are constantly seeking between gears, particularly on the low end when coming to a stop or at slow speeds.

Could be the case but there are many vehicles with 10 sp transmissions that operate smoothly. It really points to an TCM calibration that is required. I got ~8k miles on mine and it is only getting worse in terms of jerks...

Yup. I was able to do a TCM reset myself on my F-150, but not on my GX. That always helped...for a while. I guess my point is that I've never needed to do a recalibration on any of the other vehicles I've owned.

I have a Lexus GX 550 Luxury Plus, and the same thing has happened to me with the transmission and brakes. I think they're the most common problems. At the shop, they disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, and so far, I haven't had any more problems with the transmission. That was done on Monday, and as of today, Thursday, no problems. My car has 7,000 miles.
