Unfortunately Lexus Australia OT does not come with nor has the option for a Digital Rear Vision Mirror.
I use one in my RX500h for 8 months and after a little bit of discomfort to begin with, I found it fantastic. So can you help me please with:
(1) Who makes the Digital Rear Vision Mirror used in Lexus GX550?
(2) Would my 2025 GX550 OT (Aussie spec, delived May 2025) be prewired for a installation of a OEM Digital Rear Vision Mirror?

Many thanks

Not sure about the GX but my buddy has a Land Cruiser first edition and he has a digital rear view mirror. Since 90% of the parts are interchangeable between these two trucks and guessing you can look up the Land Cruiser digital rear view mirror part number and look at the pins to see if it would match.

Hi Nebula, many thanks for the good idea....I have been thinking that I just remove my RX500h mirror and swap it for the one in the new GX550 OT, not very nice I know and won't do it

You'll also need the camera and wiring as well right? Can't just swap the mirror. It's a pretty big upgrade.

Camera Pod, Wiring, mirror itself, who knows what computer programming.

Not a job for the squeamish and you should be ready for none of it to work when all is said and done.

Hi Usuzukuri,
Yes, I hear you and would not argue. Guessing I know, but you would think the factory would have one wiring harness for the GX550, and then customise the accessories that needed to be attached. The rear camera in the GX550 OT is already there, so my game plan is (providing no new info comes to light from our forum friend or the 2025 model options change for Oz) have both the RX500h and the 2025 GX550OT at the Lexus service centre and see if they can do the transplant. If successful, I can then adjust the RX500h selling price with or without a digital mirror. I certainly welcome ideas from our forum friends!!!

I don’t think the camera is actually in place on OT cars.

The trims with the rearview mirror screen have a separate camera on the roof of the car integrated into a larger aerial pod.

Hard to find documentation but you can see the camera pod in some videos.

Thanks for the intell, I will get to a lexus dealer and compare the OT and the Sports Luxury as the SL comes standard in Oz with a Digital Rear Vison mirror

A true digital rear view camera would be an option that I'd actually want to pay for....
I agree and was a bit miffed when it was not even an optional extra here in Aus, with the back loaded up with gear, it might be hard to view out the back window. Digital rear view mirror would be ideal. Where in Aus are you based? I am in Sydney.

Hi Jrox, I am in Glebe 2037, so we can meet

I don't know if it's even an option here in the US. I'm not in AUS, I'm in the US.

OK....I have been talking to my Ozi Lexus Dealer, Spare parts section and the Service Manager, all great people. But news is not good if you are wanting to add the digit rear vision mirror to a GX550 OT. The issues are, no camera on the top of the rear window and the electrical harness is a different part number for the GX Sports Luxury and GX OT. On the QT, it is unlikely that the digital rear vision mirror will be added to the OT, UNLESS enough of us complain, but by then we have already bought a GX. It would be great to talk to the Toyota/Lexus decision makers, to try and understand there "Logic ???”. After market seems like the only option, now.

You didn't happen to get any electrical harness part numbers, did you? I'm in the opposite boat of you, I have a Land Cruiser with a digital rearview mirror and trying to figure out if I can install the drivers side self dimming mirror. I am hoping it is the same wiring harness to the doors but haven't been able to figure it out. The actual mirror assembly shares about 90% of the parts.

Toyota/lexus made some weird product decisions.

The Wolfbox line of digital rear view mirrors look pretty cool. I’d invest the money in replacing my stock mirror with something like the Wolf if it was a straightforward install. I can’t believe that these $70-$80k Lexus trucks didn’t come with a digital mirror standard. Not only does it eliminate the need to arrange your cargo strategically to leave room to see, it vastly improves nighttime visibility as you’re reversing.

Hi Bluegrill, Yes, I would love to meet those Toyota/Lexus decision makers and have them explain their logic. The only possible sense (albeit unlikely) is the inclusion of upmarket features/accessories in future releases. Here in Oze we only get 3 models of GX550 with no real options to add, compared to the build list that seems to be available in the USA for 6 different models. Another mystery is that the Toyota Associated Accessory Products (AAP) in the USA is not available here in Oze, even though products in the APP (like ARB) are an Australian company. And while in am on my soap box, (and I suggested this to Lexus during a paid video online marketing survey) as the GX550 can have all these cameras, why not use them for a factory fitted Dash Cam which is a very commonly purchased item , post the purchase of the vehicle. This is not Toyota/Lexus's first rodeo and I know they are a conservative company but the Lexus range is a top shelf product and deserves top shelf accessories !!!
