Display blackout and reset during drive - anyone else? (1 Viewer)

We have a 2024 Premium Plus with 15,000 miles and the screen often freezes on daylight at night and night during the day. Must restart the car to clear. Also the top inch of the screen is fogged with Lexus navigation at all times. Dealer says fogged screen is normal, suggested only using Carplay.
I believe there is a Lexus TSB with a software update to fix the day / night freeze which your dealer can apply. Do you have a picture of the fogged screen? I haven't heard about that one before.

I was also concerned about the top inch or so of the screen with fogged/blurred look when in Carplay only. After using several loaner Lexus vehicles I learned this is normal.

I don't have an iphone, but my vehicle certainly doesn't have any fogging at the top of the screen.

I have owned 4 Lexus vehicles since they implemented Carplay and have seen this happen several times (only once on my GX since purchase in August 2025). I would consider it normal and compare it to when your laptop restarts windows explorer randomly. On older models this happened almost once every other day for me. As long as it works as normal after restart, I would not worry about it.

Thank you. This is interesting! This behavior started happening right after the TCM software was updated. They disconnect the battery for the procedure I believe so I will check the battery connections.

Update: I checked the battery connections and they were just fine; clean and tight.

If it’s a software/hardware communication issue when the screen blanks, some have reported a soft reboot:
After black out wait for it to come up, then push volume knob for infotainment in for 5 seconds, release & let the whole system recalibrate to the inputs the infotainment sees (Sirius, iPhone, GPS signal, etc. )

I’m surprised some of you are still having the screen blackout. The last time it occurred on ours was back in January 2025. No issues since then, touch wood. I think it’s something that can be fixed at the dealership, you just need to ask them to check on it, otherwise ask them nicely to get you a complete new screen / hardware.

There is a VERY small sensor on the dash that if it is covered - everything goes dark. I was on an overland trip in the Mojave, and tossed my cap on the dash which slowly slid over the sensor. Everything went to nearly impossible to read. Ended up turning back on a road I was 30 miles down since you lose the ability to see anything. Ended up turning around and an hour later put my hat back on - voila - it was a miracle....
