Who else is like me and they, themselves DO NOT step on the step rail and DO NOT allow others to do so.

When I bring the car to the dealer for service I ask that they NOT step on it and actually cover it with that dealer stick on stuff as well as the sills. Bought a whole roll from Amazon.

What is the reasoning for not using the steps as a step? Do you feel they are not strong enough or place stress on the mounting points or just don’t want to get them dirty or???
That's what I was wondering...are people allowed to use the doors as doors, or do they climb in through the window, Dukes of Hazard style? ;):)

How do you get into the truck without stepping on the running boards? I wouldn't be able to get into the truck without stepping on the rock sliders. Just not tall enough.

Running boards or rock sliders are meant to be stepped on. Keeping them clean would be a chore.

I guess it takes a while to get over the newness thing. I'm starting to treat mine like a regular truck and it's a lot more fun that way. BTW I was at the dealership today and saw a LX 700H and an LX 600 they almost look like the GX 460 but bigger. MSRP on both were $120K and they both have the running boards that are molded to the body. The interiors looked pretty nice.

The biggest problem with not using them as steps is most people can’t step out that wide and will get their pants leg dirty from rubbing on the step. Maybe a dirty leg is better than a dirty step.
