I've got a 2025 GX550 Premium+ with the factory cross bars. I'm thinking about getting a roof box, but I'm struggling to decipher what exactly the weight limit is for the cross bars. The manual not totally clear to me. It says "Do no exceed 165lbs cargo weight on the roof luggage carrier". Is this the amount I can put in the cargo box or is this total weight for what's on the cross bars? Seeing as the box I'm looking at weighs 53lbs, that only leaves 112lbs for cargo in the box if the weight of the box needs to be included.
If I were to get after market cross bars, would I be able to put more weight on them? Do you have any reccomendations for brand? Yakima seems to keep popping up, seem to be a bit cheaper than Thule.
Any context on this would be a huge help.
