those D-rings have a threaded pin (edited: my mistake thought the Q was for how shackle goes on the hitch)

those D-rings have a threaded pin you screw on, you can see it on right side
It is actually a SS bolt with a nut. It is behind the receiver, you can see the bolt head in this pic

Not to be a negative nelly, but if you actually plan to use that for recovery, you might want to at least upgrade that to a grade 8 bolt for similar shear strength to a hitch pin. Or just stick to something rated for the job to begin with.

I don't mind the hitch diaper - (and I haven't used it yet) but that small space looks like a real PITA.

I did buy they perfectly sized hitch pin someone recommended and the rings to make clipping on the chains easier but man that a really small space.

I'm happy using one of my favorite tow hitch covers locked in with my bike rack pin with a chrome plated lock.

How friggen cool would it be to have something cover up the rough parts and only see the shiny American flag there. Damn it.

Was that hitch pin a PITA to get in? Easy to take off and put in without disassembling anything?

The Bully Step actually looks pretty good on there.
Please see my other related post here. Yes, it's pretty easy to take off which is why I went with this one.

This is my current situation after my hitch cover jumped ship while off roading in the desert. I know exactly where this happened, and I'm sure the cover is sitting there on the trail. I just don't know when I'll be back to that location which is 200 miles away. I have to decide if I'm going to order a new diaper.....

Oh, you CAN NOT leave that like it is. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. :)

before you look at purchasing a new one, look at this option.

What I especially like is this >>>

The Hitch Skid Cover replaces the OEM plastic hitch cover, and mounts to the hitch receiver and trailer safety chain hook-up points, providing protection to the rear hitch and bumper.

What that tells me is it's going to be some type of spring latch to the safety chain hooks and the 2 points on the bottom will have some type of latch to release it. Like... quick release.

Although pricey, I will be getting one of these.

I'd have to know how that NYTOP cover attaches to the truck. It wouldn't work for me if it is a hassle to remove from the truck. I leave the center plastic portion of the rear hitch cover off all the time and the actual square hitch receiver is exposed. I like to have the receiver exposed in case I need to use it as a rear recovery point.

As seen here:

Is that 2 separate pieces and you can remove just the center piece? I like your set up a lot.... but thought that outer diaper and inner diaper was all 1 piece.
