Option to hitch diaper

before you look at purchasing a new one, look at this option.
NYTOP says it is a one piece cover with mounting hardware

Is that 2 separate pieces and you can remove just the center piece? I like your set up a lot.... but thought that outer diaper and inner diaper was all 1 piece.

The inner diaper is one piece, separate from the outer diaper. I was running with the inner diaper off and the outer diaper on and I dragged the rear bumper and it ripped off the outer diaper.

I just received this response to my inquiry from NYTOP:

They slide into the hitch receiver, and are bolted onto the trailer safety hook up points. We will post pictures of how it is mounted once we are done with the final testing of our prototypes.

So one would have to unbolt the NYTOP diaper replacement if you want to access the hitch receiver to use it as a recovery point, or to use it to tow. I don't tow but I need the receiver free to be a recovery point. So this NYTOP part won't work for me.

My concern is the same as yours - if my rear bumper is on the ground and had to access the trailer hitch for recovery - how could you get underneath it to remove it?

Wouldn't you remove the cover and install the recovery hook before doing anything that would put you in that situation?

Bill, all you need is some cow balls to be dangling down from your hitch and all would be good.

That all sounds great until you are out driving and thinking 'this is an easy trail'. until it is not
I've been in this exact situation many times.

And I know myself....I would not want to bother unbolting a cover every time I want to access the hitch receiver.

I'll find another diaper to put back on. This is preparing me for the future decades of my life.

well, it depends on your circumstances… But I think I’m going to pull the trigger and get a new diaper myself

I ordered one because I really don't need it - but it's an accessory so that trumps all needs. More importantly though - the current cover is so horrific and looks beyond cheap on an $85K vehicle. I'll probably paint it the same color as the rims.
