Asking all the GX 550 owners:

Given some of the known issues these vehicles have, albeit that many have been resolved, what are some things prospective owners should be checking for when pickup up a GX 550?

As in a pre delivery checklist for buyers prior to signing the sales documents and driving off the lot.

Anyone score any Lexus goodies?

I'm the type of buyer that doesn't take part in the pre-delivery checklist. The sales rep doesn't know anything about the car anyway so I find it to be a waste of time. I just say no to the finance guy, pick up the keys and drive off.

I was offered a key chain and a detail at a later date but I declined since I don't like free stuff.

Good luck on your new GX550. I had a 24 OT+ and two months ago bought a 26 OT+. The 24 had a bad case of hood flutter and it was fixed at the dealer. The 26 had a similar problem, but it was not as bad. The service manager knew what to do to fix the problem, which he did. No problems with the 26 as yet.
I got high pressure to buy an extended warranty, and passed. That was the only sour grapes in the purchase of the 26.

Realistically you are not going to see, feel or hear any of the most discussed issues, rough downshift, brake squeal etc. in a predelivery walk around.

Focus on obvious visual things, such as paint scratches, dents and dings on the door edges, small remnants of shipping materials -- plastic wrap etc., -- left in or on the vehicle, presence of the owner's manuals (main, multimedia and warranty), window sticker, first aid kit, and PIOs all weather mats, key gloves.

Lexus, like other luxury brands, will (or better) be double, triple or quadruple checking the visual items, with printed checklists and multiple people at different stages of the delivery process and dealer prep process.
