When I was purchasing my GX in early 2026, I had 4 absolute requirements:
1. It had to be Atomic Silver with Onyx Black roof.
2. It had to be an Overtrail or an Overtrail plus.
3. Interior had to be black nuluxe and…
4. It had to be priced at MSRP with NO pricey dealer add on’s (like $1000 coatings etc).
As a service to those seeking to purchase their first GX 550, here is a list of California dealerships that sell the GX 550 with zero mark up. Others can list their experiences nationwide.
Another tip - when getting on a list ask your dealer to advise you on the vehicle build in advance so you can cancel unwanted PIO’s (port installed options). You likely won’t have any input into FIOs (factory installed options).
Most dealers require a $500 to $1000 deposit.
I ended up paying way more than I wanted - but instead of getting gouged by a greedy opportunistic dealership, I was treated well by an honest one. In March of 2026 after a 5 month wait, I picked up an amazing Overtrail plus that was loaded with FIO’s that over time I have come to appreciate greatly (with the exception of the lift gate Kick sensor, which stays disabled most of the time).

One other new buyer tip: if purchasing a warranty - do your negotiation at the time of purchase.
Bear in mind the best price you will get is out of Montana - but need an out of California address to do so.
