You can ask Troy to send you VSA to review before draft a contract. Troy is a nice guy to work with.

Yes, so I had an extended email exchange with Troy. And I agree he is a super nice guy. Very patient and will explain everything in detail..Will reach out to Troy again today.![]()
Also, it seems from our fellow owners on this forum, the best time to try to negotiate with your California dealer as it applies to a extended warranty or extended maintenance program, is when you are picking up your new vehicle.Yes, so I had an extended email exchange with Troy. It’s a terminology issue. So he does not sell prepaid maintenance programs for Lexus. He does sell Lexus. Extended warranties which some people use VSA to describe.
You need to be careful about Lexus maintenance package. Read Lexus maintenance schedule about what you are getting. When I purchased my GX, the finance person tried to sell me the maintenance package, I asked what exactly is covered on the most expensive one, the guy said it would cover blah blah.... mostly 30K. I asked to show me to list. They had no clue what maintenance includes and most items he mentioned were not on the list. In summary, Lexus car has every 5K tire rotation, every 10K engine oil change, every 30K brake fluid change, every 40K spark plug change(Turbo Engine cut spark plug life into 1/3 of my V6 2GR-FE). I don't care air, carbon filter that I can take care easily(love Toyota cars). That is pretty much for 50K maintenance. It doesn't cover diff, transfer case fluid exchange, no transmission fluid exchange(Toyota claim lifetime), no coolant fluid exchange (Toyota has 100K change schedule), Engine oil should change max 5K (more often than Toyota suggested). You also have option to go to Toyota dealer for engine oil change for less $$. Dealer gave me quote 3K for 5 year maintenance which I don't think it is even close to a deal.Yes, so I had an extended email exchange with Troy. And I agree he is a super nice guy. It’s a terminology (semantics) issue. So Troy does NOT sell “prepaid maintenance” programs for Lexus (What I’ve been referring to as VSA). He does however sell Lexus OEM Extra Care Extended warranties which both Lexus and Troy use the moniker VSA to describe.

So don’t but the extended warranty until your factory warranty expires. It activates from the time of purchase, so if you wait until 3 years down the road and then purchase the 10 year/100k mile option it adds another 10 years and 100k miles. My finance manager told me wait and not buy it until year 3.I’ve been reaching out to various dealers regarding a 10 year / 100k warranty - aka - Lexus Extra Care, Platinum coverage with $0 deductible:
So according to Troy Dietrich at Greenfield Lexus in the Midwest - a 10 year old/ 100k mile warranty costs only $3300 if purchased through his dealership.… a steal IMHO for a $100k SUV!
The problem is he CANNOT facilitate the purchase of said warranty unless you have an address that is outside of California, Washington, or Oregon. WEIRD!! And the pricing is miles apart - at least in California!
The most updated pricing for various warranty options as of 4/20/26 per Troy (NON - CA, WA, OR) is listed here:
Vehicle: 2022 – 2026 Lexus GX; (Within 48 months / 50,000 miles).
- Class C10 -
Lexus Extra Care, Platinum coverage with $0 deductible:
6 yr / 75K - $1,155.00 6 yr / 100K - $1,765.00 6 yr / 125K - $2,410.00 7 yr / 75K - $1,730.00 7 yr / 100K - $2,300.00 7 yr / 125K - $3,025.00 8 yr / 75K - $1,945.00 8 yr /100K - $2,680.00 8 yr / 125K - $3,800.00 9 yr / 100K - $3,055.00 9 yr / 125K - $4,245.00 10 yr / 100K - $3,300.00 10 yr / 125K - $4,620.00
UNFORTUNATELY…. California pricing appears to be much more.
Dealers whom I’ve reached out to have given me their base cost in California of $3600 + a mark up. One dealer was willing to extend a courtesy friends and family up charge of only $500. Others will feed all kinds of stories and give inflated charges far in excess on that number.
Longo Lexus for example, (where I had a great car purchasing experience for my GX OT+) was surprisingly unaccommodating with their warranty pricing: “The 10 years 125k miles is $6,920, 100k miles is $5,600. Plus $600 discount.” ($1000 more than other more competitive iCalifornia dealers).
What I’m finding is if you are able to convince a dealer to sell u the warranty for between $250 to $500 over California cost for the 10/100 product ($3600 + mark up) - you are probably in a good place.
So far for all around customer service and willingness to work with customers, on everything from service to warranties, I’m finding that Lexus of Santa Barbara is excellent.
If someone has a GO TO DEALER FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY in California - please share in this thread.
